09 M8 running rich

Can anyone tell me if I am safe to run an intake kit (to help lean out), on my hcr with a d@d y-pipe at 2000ft? Or am I better off getting a fuel controller? Does anyone else have this problem?

What are the symtoms causing you to think it is rich? Plug color? Have you checked to see if your sled has the dreaded 09 M8 oil pump sticking problem?

our 09 m8 running stock intake, y-pipe, sw pipe, can.
i run at 9k elevation using better than 87-even 91 on over the hood days because plugs are already light-chocolate, with no fuel box. 85oct on a pure stock sled might work, but will be scary lean if used in a mod. I wouldnt change the intake, & exhaust without more fuel, imo if your want to be safe....

the 09 M8 curve is pretty spot-on!! but the m1000 is a whole diff story...

Just curious to any solutions people have come up with for the sticking oil pump if Arctic Cat hasn't come up with a plan for it? Just bought an 09 and its the first I've heard of it.

I pulled about 3/8" more pre-load on the return spring, then bent a new hook on the tail of it.
Then after CLOSE MONITORING of my oil ratio, I turned the rod out two turns too.

No more stick/load up. More close monitoring (while running pre-mix to be safe) netted a perfect 50:1 ratio after adjusting the rod.

Just took mine to the dealer and they replaced the pump, they were really good about it

50:1 is risky, good luck

the stock oiler is not a progressive oiler it gives a little oil on the bottom but after 1/3 to 2/3 (not real sure)of throttle it just goes full oil, so if you set it for even a 40:1 ratio it may be leaner at wot.(unless you ride wot without ever letting of) So its all on an average.

I never heard of an actual fix of the problem so a replacement will prob do the same thing.

If you are running crazy rich, your dealer should be able to do a flow test on your fuel system and components and match injectors, ecu and fuel pump accordingly... mine did.
