09 m8 owners please look

just got my new/used sled dropped off, its a 2009 m8 sp demo sled.
my question, why does it have 08 rails on it?did some get released
like this, or has someone swapped out my skid?
if some were released this way, do the different rails change the
skid geometry?

Maybe I'm crazy or they came two different types of rails but Those look like 08 rails to me. Here is an 09 HCR from the swap.

Hmmmm, are you guys looking at your sleds or going by memory? Cause my memory sucks, at least that's what my wife says. Here's a couple pics of my 09 which has the same rails as were in the Cat ads.

the arctic cats parts manual shows the 09-10 rails are the same
i tried to attach and example but cant seem to get it done
if you look under general snowmobiling and go to the ladies ride thread
pg.3. these are the ones i thought were on the 09's

There 08 rails. There a few ounces heavier, and I believe there not pre-drilled for ice scratchers. May be wrong though.

Miss July has 09 rails and if your sled is an 09 you should have the same rails she has.

OK, Im getting old, went out to the garage and thump426er is right, you have 2008 rails, I guess it would help if I kept a sled more than a few months

Yep, you got 08 rails on an 09. 09 and 10 do have the same rails.

someone sold you 08 rails. the geometry is the same. but the 09-10 rails are lighter because of more material removed from them.

look it over close and see if it has been bent from jumping

We have 4 09's in our family and all of them have the newer style rails. (oppsite of yours) Maybe some of the early builds used the 08 rails cause all the mounting holes are in the same spot. I looks like you have a rear two wheel setup and that didnt come out till 09 so i think you have an early build with leftover 08 rails or being that its a demo the rails could have been bent and dealer replaced them with some 08's

same here, too many beers. i went and looked at mine and dont look like yours, look like the other 09's.

One other small difference with the 09 skid is Cat put 1" little stoppers in front of the rear scissors. Yours has the complete shaft so I think you have an 08 Skid. Not just rails.
