09 M1000 bogs just like the 08's ???

A/F Ratios 15.0 to 14.5 - 0-1/3 throttle

14.0 to 13.5 - 1/3-2/3 throttle

13.00 to 12.5 -- 2/3 - wot

Close numbers. Can be found on SLP's site. Look up the Koso A/F meter. Instructions have 3 pages on supplimental instructions.

.....adding octane because of exhaust system mods is absolutely not necessary...only when head mods that increase compression or decrease squish, is octane increase necessary....addition of pipes, y-pipes etc, necessitate the addition of more fuel, not octane, hence the need for a fuel controller to increase fuel....the use of mid-grade gas is sufficient...i don't ride at low altitude, so i'm not familiar with what pump gas octane levels are, but they should be generally higher than at higher altitudes...where i ride (7-11 k), mid-grade is 87 octane and premium is 91....with similar mods as was reported, i use 87 with no problems.....the only problem i had with my 09 1000, is a bit of gurgle at 42-4400 rpm...with the bd box, i added just 1 number at 3000 rpm, both lo and mid.....at 5000 rpm, i took away 1 at lo and mid...tuning altiude was 8400 feet....i still had a slight gurgle at 4200 rpm, but throttle response was best with these numbers...i could get a slightly better throttle response by going to -3 at 5000 rpm, both lo and mid, but i was getting an occasional lean pop if i was at that rpm for more than a few seconds, so i richened it to just -1 for the best balance between throttle response and overall rideability without lean pops occuring....just discussing the low bog, as at higher rpms i added fuel all the way with high settings ranging from +5 to +8 at the higher rpm settings.....i clutch to 7350 on the road, with the clutching settleing back to about 7200 on the hills........i rode with these settings for four hours, and tried several minor variations, but always came back to these as being the best overall....plug readings were always safe, with the deposit/clean break on the plug electrode occuring at the bend of the "L", and max temps being 1225 degrees, with the egt sensor 2" downstream of the junction of the y-pipe/pipe....hope this helps..........

you might be right some of the time, but a pipe increases the running compression of the motor. if you increase compression either with a head or with a pipe, you should have to increase your octane rating as well. this might not be the case at high altitude, but watched a friend denotate his 1000 to death because he ran 87 oct... just my $.02.

oil pump

absolutely check your oil pump guys. a riding buddy had exactly the same bogging problem on his 09 m1000, we couldn't get it tuned out with the control box and it was puking oil out the pipe on the heat shield. checked the oil pump settings and the alignment marks weren't even close, we adjusted the pump so the marks lined up and the bog went away.:D You would think the factory or at least the dealer would check these things(hint hint dealers) my .02

cat has come out with a new program they havnt given it to the dealers yet but it should help and 87 doesnt cuter 91 plus if you are stock arcticcats can run mid grade but and performance mods fuel quality must be higher

mr quick......you didn't say if your friends' 1000 had a fuel controller on it, and was it dialed in with a/f gage, egts, or at least plug readings?....with the addition of a pipe, a person definitely needs more fuel on a 1000....the detonation is more likely a result of not enough fuel, rather than octane...having set my previous 1000 up with y-pipe, single, and can....only when i added the pipe did i need more fuel from a controller... never used other than mid-grade, not 'cause i'm cheap, but there was no need.....the only point here is that i wouldn't want someone to add a pipe, and think that they wouldn't burn the engine if all they did was bump the octane up to premium.....a pipe causes faster flow, hence more fuel because of more air being processed.....

CAT has NOTNOT NOT NOT come out with a updated program
I wish you guys would learn this before you post to all users.

octane

more compression better fuel, how does a y-pipe,pipe and can change compression!! no need to run high octane if you haven't changed compression i beleive cat sets these sleds up to run on 87, i feel the bogging is coming from the fuel map cat installed, it is way to rich try leaning out your lower numbers then adding the fuel to it at the top mine seems to be getting alot better, as well they don't seem to run very well below 3000 ft no matter what you do.

cat does have a new program, i have it in my o9 m1000, went from unrideable at 0 to 1/2 throttle to not missing a beat. best running 1000 ihave been on.
