09 float skid question

For you mountain guys with the 09 skid is there a product out there to keep the rear coupling block from scissoring to much. If that didn't make sense is there a product to help prevent ski lift. Thanks

Not that I have seen. I think you are talking about a coupled rear suspension? Most people are going to the 09 skid to get more ski lift...... You could go to an 07 style skid and your skis will always be down. Sucks in all areas, but the nose will plow!

K-mod is working on some transfer blocks that will do just that for the turbo's. I asked him about it last fall and he said he should have them working this summer sometime. I would be interested on how they are going :)

well here's my 2 cents.
We had 3 turboed m series in our family and 1 non turboed m1000
1-08 /2-09's/1-07...all with CE 162
we attempted different set-ups for all the machines...the 09's were wheelie demons and would trench like a mofo in the deep and steep. The 08 was no different. The 07 with a turbo before it was removed handled the steep the best and layed more track down all the time.
we tryed 3 after market skids that improved things but never addressed the really problems for us. Which was being able to hammer the moguls in and quickly adjust settings without a pit crew and tools for mountain riding. The 08/09 skids worked some what if pumped up to high pressures but would beat you up or trench in some conditions. If at any time you were even slighty underinflated it would sag and never rebound.
For now anyway I will never run a skid without coil overs. The Baker rear skid and a zbros middle shock has proven to be the best rear skid I've ever tryed bar none.
Back to your question yes there is a product to solve your problem

the 07 machine...and yes it performs like no other on a stock machine too!!

all the above machines were tryed stock before turboes were added and they all had faults just not as exaggerated as when they got pressurized.

nubulin are you saying that if you want to turbo and have a 07 1000 stay with that suspension.ie more power =more lift.curious thanks

I will qualify my experience here. I had an 07 M1000 153 mod with the 07 suspension, then timbersled, and then the 09 cat suspension. Also spent limited time on a 09 M8T 153 stock skid. You might put more stock in some of the other responses based on that.

The 07 is a much better hill climber suspension than the 09. It really keeps the nose planted. The 09 transfers a lot more and gives way more ski lift. It is also more adjustable, but I was looking for lift, so I never pumped it up to see if it would keep the nose down. It does ride a LOT better than the 07. I have not run a turbo on the M1000, but I would think that if it had too much lift you could move it up in the chassis and/or pull the limiter straps and it would behave well. I had no trenching issues with the 09 skid and I personally believe it is how it is setup and the track more than any other factor.

Samurai - That skid looks sweet! How adjustable is it before it couples?

Thanks for the replies I currently use a 07 skid. But I am using a 05 snopro chassis so I have to take the skid down to 13.5 wide. The 09 is the easyiest to narrow up and I wanted to go longer then my current 153 thanks

On the front skid shock, What do you recommend for springpressure for climbing? I would assume light pressure? Would a light spring cause less lift with more pressure in the back spring? Samurai, Are those titanium coils?

Thanks
Mike

light in the front and medium in the rear works best for us....no they aren't but will be for this coming season

adjustment before coupling depends on your gross adjustment of coil over
