I've got a new dragon rmk 163, and now i'm feelin like maybe should've got an assault... i know both sleds are gonna be sick as f**k, but i'm wonderin if anyone has any thoughts, or experience, as to the difference in performance

They are both new sleds for this year (the D8 is improved and performance is supposedly different than last year), so I don't think there are very many comparisons yet.
I'd be all over the Assualt if it had the narrower stance and longer track (I want the shock package).

me too as far as the shock package goes sounds like the 163 guy should have gone with the 155 if he is thinking he wants a 146
my dad got the 155... i've got friends who got the assault so naturally i think, hmm, should i have done that... i don't think i'll be dissapointed

I don't get it...by now it should be pretty clear that one should not be comparing these two sleds as equals. They are very different sleds with different things in mind. Best way I can put it is if you want an iq racer with a little more track so you are not stuck all the time,you get the Assult. The Assualt is the sled we have all been wanting and building ourselves for years. If you want a mountian sled, buy the rmk. Now yes, you may want to upgrade the shock package, but then again, that is what the dragon is vs the stock rmk or shift rmks. Hope this helps you out.

i think i may get you... mainly i'll be riding back country heaven, and that is why i went with the rmk, i just hate those "should i have" thoughts that come after dropping 11 grand on something
any suggestions on what can and pipe to use... i've been told stock pipe and hps can is the way to go. Any thoughts?...

Go with the full slp single pipe/can combo. Peak hp may not be a huge increase, but the fun factor/snappiness comes alive. If you are a harcore boondocker, you will love that about it.
have no experience on these sleds but id did full slp setup on mine dealer said i would lose 10 lbs and gain 6 horse power, i also did clutch, vents, and air so im thinking it should be good they did a lot of testing with it last year

The dragon is going to eat the assualt for lunch in the bottomless powder. Two totally different sleds, the dragon will be a much better powder sled where the assualt will be better for freeriders who love to get crazy. If you like the steep and deep the dragon is the better choice without a doubt.

well on my 08 d-8 163 i have slp single/wcan, carls clutch kit, 19/42 gears,slp intake and full vents,sitting in my living room ready to install for this season I have holz rear suspension, VF-3 reeds, more vents, 09 polaris frt bumper update kit,fox float-2 frt ski shocks, carls valved floats for the skid,projector beam headlight kit,left hand throttle kit,and a few other peices.....but been too busy at work to work on the sled..but will here real soon...
i've heard a lot about the fox float shocks, how do they differ from the walker evens?
i would love to the results of your mods... please keep me posted
my mods are pretty much the same except no v force reeds are they worth the extra money?
