09 assault track

This is a post to complain about a track that was engineered by polaris, put on a consumer sled and, not backed by polaris. My 09 assault 2.1" stock track started loosing track lugs after 200 miles. Called the dealer that i bought the sled from (which is out of business now) and made a claim. The dealer called back and told me to call the polaris customer service line, so i also made a claim at 200 miles to the customer service line. Later i learned that polaris hires a separate company that doesn't even know what a snowmobile is to "take care of polaris' customer service".

Beginning of this year i found a new dealer and they have been more supportive than the dealer that i bought my sled from. So my new badazz dealer tried to make the track claim again at 800 miles when the sled went in for recall work. Denied again. This time polaris stated that the lug failure is heat related and is not warantable.

Bottom line is polaris won't stand behind this track. They won't even help a little. I know there is alot of dealers and alot of knowlegable people on this site so i thought i'd post this to see if there is anymore options or if i should just bend over and go track shopping.

thanks for the replies

thats what happends i guess when you have super hard lugs and tons of low end power, would be nice if they made a 146 90 duro powder claw. they make a 80 duro 141 powder claw

looks like low snow high speed cause and effect

thats to bad

Ive seen lots like it all diff brands

the lugs get to hot and delaminate

everyone should send them to Camoplast

Thats Bulls@#t with only a few hundred miles on it you shouldnt be losing lugs. Good luck man I hope it all works out for you.
Cheers

Mine did the same thing, and i'll admit i was riding in low snow conditions. i put on a 146 challenger 2". all around i like this track way better. this sled actually runs like an 800 now. tops out around 85 where as before 70 was about it. i'm really not sure why they come with the track they do, i've got no love for them.

The right dealer would let you swap out tracks when you purchase it. Yes, the ASSault stock tracks are junk!

Swapping the track to the same on is a band-aid fix. Swapping it out for a different one is not a solution to his complaint, which is:

Polaris is not taking care of him. He has 200 miles on his sled. Jonny you need to contact your state attorney general. I hope you have some documentation that this happened at 200 miles.

I would think there would be more of these if there is a problem. Hopefully you can find some other cases.

I ride my assault in minnesota and have had no problems with the stock track for the 700 miles i had on it before i switched it out. You just can't drive fast from what i understand, to much mass in the track spinning at such high speeds something is bound to happen.

You can bark up a any tree you want at Polaris our your State att. general. But Polaris covered there butts by putting a big sticker on the sled before you even leave the dealer, "don't operate at speeds greater than 70 mph or the track will blow apart!" Does that make it right, probably not but you won't get anyplace with a warranty or legal for that matter. Just my .02 cents, oh i own a 09 assault as well.

My sled doesn't have that sticker. If they geared it to run that fast, you will have a case even if there is a said "sticker".

Isn't this along the same lines as my Silverado being speed limited to 97mph because the tires are only speed rated for that?

I had a similar experience with a dragon track coming apart after 100 miles. The track started separating. To me and my dealer an obvious bad track, and no warranty as well. I like Polaris, but it is disappointing that they don't back there product 100%. By spending a couple of bucks, they can gain a lot of loyalty. (repeat business). It pays better in the long run.

I agree that they could be more stand up in sticking to fixing warranty issues. I guess they could also go the way of the auto industry who allows no aftermarket items without voiding the warranty. I am honestly suprised we are allowed to pipe, clutch or change anything besides stickers at this point. Bottom line the track was a very specific track that is not worth a $hit and should have never been on the sled one year let alone two. Of coarse thats is why I went to the powerclaw it I must say the difference was awesome.

I would email Bruce Dashnaw at Camoplast to find out what he thinks caused the failure.

They are the OEM for this track... He has "seen it all"...

Might help to have this info from the OEM on the failure.

Polaris does state that the track should not be used at speeds over 70mph.

anybody have a pic of this "sticker". I have everything that came with that sled and no 70 mph sticker.

This tag came wired to the handlebar on my 09 Assault. Also, I was told by my dealer that when they hook your sled up to their computer they can see what your top speed has been.
