09 Assault, Good bad and the Ugly!

Congrats, I am pulling the trigger on a 2009 with 155 miles for $7600. Recall has not been done but I can get that done while I wait for snow.

What do you mean by 2010 upgrades? Did they put the newer coil over shocks of the 2010?

I meant new 2 ring pistons, new head and a fuel re-mapping. I am a boondocking wildman and not a point and shoot geek. I would rather side hill my way to the top and smile all the way;) I think I am going to have a blast on this sled!!!! Thanks for all the welcome aboards! Glad to be back;)

I'm with you there. Boondocking, playing, jumping. I can swallow my pride and take a 2nd run at a hill if I have to get up there!
:D:beer;

09 Assault

Mine has been great also! A few suspension mods, needles in the front. The only complaint I have is with the ported track they don't skip water. 1300 miles and no issues other than chain stretch. I need to replace the chain at 1300 miles.

If you like boondocking and sidehilling, you should have bought a dragon, or RMK, OR should get their front end installed. The Assault's are wider by two inches or more (depending how they're adjusted) and handle like a tank in comparison. JMO.

2 of my 3 brothers have a Dragon, so I do know the Dragon handles better, but I also wanted to try something new and a little different. Time will tell.

You guys are going to love them! Just pound them to death and they will thank you! Glad to see you guys jumping to the Polaris side and seeing what the IQ chassis can do.

In response to a previous question about dislikes on the sled, I don't have any serious dislikes about it but this season I am going to run a series 5.1 Polaris track just because my stock track is tattered pretty badly. I am also going to be running boost on the stock suspension and 146 track length just to see how it will do! I will report back to you all on that.

Sounds like you guys found some great buys! Enjoy the machine :)

I have been debating buying the 145 Camo Extreme from Tracks USA and riding that in the middle soft/dry snow. Then going back to the hard OEM in the spring.

Let me know how the boost goes.

I was thinking of doing the same! I called Tracks usa today and asked about the track. It is the Challenger Extreme they have for the Assault ($600). What is a Camo Extreme?

And for it work to the max potential a drop and roll should be installed, as the clearance with the 2.5 is very slim, yes it will fit but very little (1/4 inch, ish) clearance.

That's what I meant, trying to get a quick post in as I run out the door OWNS me. LOL

I just noticed I accidentally put 145 as the length as well.

I was hoping it would be a little cheaper than that, For $600, I think you can find a pretty cheap 5.1 series 155 and do some rail extensions, although I don't know if you could get away with no tunnel extension.

Ideally I would prefer the 155 for mid-winter/dry deep snow. Then go back to the 146 hard compound in the spring and early season riding.
