09 800 CFI slp stage 3 kit. how to get tuned correctly

i installed this kit last year on my sled took it out to Cooke City and the whole week my sled was burning down. had to rebuild motor when i got back home. does anyone have any advice with installing this kit on your sled?. has anyone else had this problem? going back out to Cooke again this year wanna install these parts again and hopefully get it to run strong the whole trip.

Do you have a controler? SLP should have a map that will make it run. Check with, they always do a good job of R&D. I have their pipe and map on my Dragon and it runs great.

I have the power commander V with slp's maps. Also slp pipe, V-Force reeds, and power dome heads from slp. I've been searching on here trying to find somebody that has run all that stuff but no luck so far.

Last season I ran my '08 D8 with SLP single, V force, PC with SLP map, airbox vents, and gearing. It ran great, 8200RPM no problem.

I just installed a head which raised my compression 13psi to 143psi so I'll have to see how it runs this winter as a full stage 3 set up.

tear it back apart and check piston to cylinderwall clearence, lean condition is only a part of the problem

what gears are you running? did you do any clutch work?

Like dart said, I would look at something else being wrong. PC V should make it fine on the fuel side. If it still has issues, must be something else.

Harrysmith500 is running that set-up well he runs the Stage 4 with the porting. I run that set-up except my head isn't from SLP. Are you running this sled at low altitudes with the high comp domes? What exactly are your issues? Need more info.

I don't understand what you mean by my sled was burning down all weekend?

The gearing is 19/42, stock chain. The clutching was done by the previous owner and Carl's Cycle. The team helix is a 56-42-36 (stock?) with a black/purple spring. Primary weights are "belly busters" and a 140/330 spring part # 7043342. I'm 300lbs with gear so my clutching is "a bit different"! It seems to run real nice though.

no i only run the sled in high elevation. only got to run it once in Cooke City, MT which is 7000-11000 ft i believe. i had the local dealership install the head and V-Force reeds. i installed the PC V and set it up according to slp. first 2 hrs out in cooke it ran really strong. the next morning out on the mountains it had no power stock assault was pulling away from up the hill. im not the most snowmobile mechanically inclined guy so just a little cautious about running the setup again. dont really feel like having it rebuilt again. i read on here a couple years ago when i got back from my trip to MT that guys were having to run a couple gallons of 110 per tank with that setup

:face-icon-small-dis if you are going fom low elevation to high elevation with a stage three kit you need to have high elevation domes in the head
