09 700 sputters when layed over

RMK-King

Super-Moderator
Today when riding my 09 700 RMK in some deep powder I would carve and tried to whip a circle, 3/4 into the circle the sled would start sputtering and fall on its face until I tipped it back up then it was fine again. It did this no matter what side I carved on,I did not notice any warning lights come on but could have missed it. I could maybe see a carbed sled doing this but I can not figure out why a fuel injected sled should cut out when tipped over on its side. Gas tank was full and I never noticed it do this before.

Maybe a dumb question, but is the gas on your tank of good quality?
I had a similar problems with my sled on my first ride of the season, and the gas that I had in the tank was from may (the ride was in October) It worked fine until I started carving and gave it some throttle but was just fine on the next tank of gas...
just a thought...

Sounds like your getting snow on your air senser in your air box. The IQ's all have that problem till you seal it up around the head light, by the adjuster knob, and seal up the air box it self. In any kind of dry powder the snow will work it's way in, it hits the senser, it gets confused and throws in a bunch of fuel. Resulting in your bog. OR, it could be your intake vents were blocked off with snow and it was simply starving for air, causing it to bog. If that's your problem then SLP's powder valve is the fix for your problem. Seeing as it's a 700, the next option shouldn't be your problem, but it was mine on my D8. My fuel mapping was way rich on top end before I had a PC5, so any time it really had to pull hard, like on it's side, it would bog. Every time. Installed a PC5 which leaned it out and problem solved. But if you were seeing a bunch or moisture in your air box I would bet on the first option as being your problem.

bogging

I have a similar issue with mine but only laid on the right side which they tell me is exhaust issue. I have SLP powder valves so I am not air starved. Only happens on the right side for me
