09 600 cfi2 no lights on dash, will not start

Okay so I'm going to start by saying i have been fighting a bog all season .I rode friday saturday and sunday and on sunday i was having heavier bogs then i have ever experienced. At one point i let on and off the throttle probably 7 times before the sled stopped going "bluhhhhhhh buhh buhhhh" and finally took off again. I rode it back to my truck parked it on the deck and drove home where it was minus 37 C. Went to unload it and the sled started for 3 seconds then died, I started it again and it ran for 2 seconds then died, started again and it would not run. I assumed it didnt want to start because of the temps, I just drove 2.5 hours going 110 kmph in -37c weather so i dragged it into my shop.

Went to start the sled today and i have no flashing lights on the dash when i pull it over and it will not run. I have fuel spark and have replaced almost everything on the sled the last 3 seasons.

This seams to be an electrical issue? Could this be a voltage regulator? I have never had an engine light in 3 seasons and never saw one all weekend. 85% of the time the sled ran %100 and flat out ripped but sometimes when i would get off the throttle and try to get back on it hard the sled would simply not go anywhere.

What do you guys think?

Thanks for your time

Do you have ethanol in the gas? Negative, winter shell V power fuel has no ethanol and l i have been running the non ethanol resistor and the same fuel for three seasons

Do you ever fill from a gas can?- %50 of the time because i haul my non ethanol V power to everywhere i ride and have not used any other fuels since owning the sled because im paranoid about old fuel in remote areas.

When was the last time you replaced your fuel filter? I did the fuel filter 3 weeks ago and also pulled the pickup from the tank to ensure it was not deteriorated or damaged, also made sure there was no sediment in my tank.

Have you checked for water in your fuel? I have not physically checked for water in my fuel with a test. On the second last day of riding i ran the sled right down to to reserve and poured in two fresh jerrys cans i had filled on the friday drive to the lake before i ran the sled on sunday for two hours when i started experiencing serious bog issues. The riding temps were around -35C but i have had the same bog at -10c.

I cant even get a single light to flicker on the dash when i pull it over and its in my heated shop around +15C.

Have you tried testing the voltage regulator or stator? I am wondering if your VR went out and took out the ECM like on the 800's.

Well i just did a comp test and its 85 and 91 but the pistons show no signs of wear from looking through the valves and it pulls over smoothly. I installed a new kill switch today just to make sure it wasnt the issue before i dive into everything. I really hope the VR did not take out the ECM but its definitely a possibility. Looks like i need to do some testing and rebuild the top end regardless:frusty:

what is the best way to test the VR and ECM? is it even possible to test them if the sled wont run?

I have removed my air box and inspected all clips and electrical connections and i didn't discover any damage. I may just drag it to the dealer tomorrow.

what do you mean?

I have visually inspected BOTH VR's and the ECM, the wiring is different from the 800 Dragon setup and nothing show signs of failure. I dont think i can even test anything since the sled wont run

I purchased a new one from Polaris a few hours ago and the sled still would not start with it installed

I cant find the version for the RMK shift, the electrical is different on the shift as it uses two voltage regulators

i can only find the manual for the 07 08

I could toss hundreds of dollars at it just hoping it would fix the issue but i don't know how i can even start to diagnose since it wont run.

I had no flashing lights or dimming dash and no engine light just an intermitent bog this season so its starting to make me think it is not the VR since i experienced no symptoms of it failing before the sled would not start.

I could do the stator next

thanks for the link. I am torn between just taking the sled in to Polaris so i only end up paying for what it needs rather than trying the stator and then the VR just hoping it is the issue when both of them could possibly be just fine and it turns out to be something else. I have never had to take this sled to the dealer but this might be the right time to do it

Well today i'll be dropping the sled off at the dealer. Could be one of the voltage regulators, capacitor, ECM, stator or a simple short i am unable to track down. I simply cant wait 4-5 days for parts while guessing what i need to replace and waste money replacing components that are fine. I will let everyone know what the dealer finds out.

turns out i have a bad stator, $390 from polaris and back ordered until the end of February. Hopefully the one at Rec Supply in stock works.

I picked up an SPI stator that was supossed to fit my sled but the connectors are wrong. I pulled apart my top end to find a badly torn bellow and this!

At least my cylinders are still fine!

This is the type of SPI stator i picked up and it said 07-09 polaris but the connectors are NOT the same as the ones on my sled. my sled has three rectangular connectors not one rectangular and three triangular. does anyone know where i can get the proper stator?
