09 600 CFI Blinking Display

I see this issue being discussed, but mine seems different, so I wanted to get some input.

I have an 09 600 CFI and I am getting a blinking display. So here are the symptoms:

Everything is fine at Idle
Sled starts with 1 pull (maybe 2 when cold) every time
Sled runs great no performance issues
Highbeam Indicator, Reverse & brake light (when pulled) stay one when display starts blinking and/or goes out
No Dimming of headlight when display goes out
Blinking starts when I rev the engine and then it goes out and then resets just like you started the sled up fresh.

I have wiggles wires around and don't seem to have anything grounding out when idle. It only happens when you throttle up past 2 - 3k RPM.

At first I suspected water in the connection between the hood harness and body harness, but blew it out and sprayed down with WD40. Still have the problem.

I am hoping that I am not on the VR train. I haven't seen too many 600 CFI sleds with this issue. Not sure if it was an 800 issue only. I don't want to fry an ECM if possible.

Is there anyway to check the VR?

Does anyone have a wire diagram so I can measure the VR?

Thanks.

If you have the 2 injector 600, then you have a completely different electrical system than the 4 injector CFI's.

The 09 2 injector 600 electrical systems use a seperate rectifier and voltage regulator unlike the 4 injector CFI's so you can relax a little.

These 09 and newer sleds seem to be getting alot of snow build up in the front cavity and with the hood wiring harness being up there, I believe we are going to see possible water intrusion issues in those connectors cause different type of symptoms.

Also, the high beam/reverse/hot grip switch assy can get water intrusuion and cause a different host of symptoms.

What is actiually blinking? Is the check engine light blinking or is it something else?

It is the CFI 4, so you have made me feel better.

It is funny you talk about water intrusion, cause the front was totally filled with snow and the connector was basically submerged in snow. I don't remember this issue before I made my first run the other night. I guess maybe getting out the heat gun and warming the plugs might be a better start.

The whole display is what is blinking. No check eng light. Just the RPM/Temp/Max RPM display on the Right side of the gauge pod. It blinks and then goes out. Then about 10 - 30 secs it comes back on just like you started the sled again.

I am wondering if packing the connector ends with di-electric grease after I get it dried out would do the trick? I know what I am going to do tomorrow/tonight.

Ok, so now I am super stumped. I just dried out the connections last night and let it sit over night. I then went and tried it with no luck. So, I went today and bought a new VR the whole New part number re-labeled over the old part number.

Well, no luck. Same symptom. I am guessing that there is something else going on. I just have no idea what. I am going to take the gauge out and check the connections and see what happens.

Yep, same symptoms as my 10 600 IQ Shift. I'll let you know, my new VR gets put on tomorrow.

Fixed it. :)

The wires from the pickup were shredded apart. Re-wired and all good. I wish I would have found those before I bought a VR. Oh well, lesson learned.
