08 XP Driveshaft Recall - welding okay?

I'm sure this topic has been discussed to oblivion, however I haven't had a chance to hear about it... My driveshaft is expected to arrive at my local Alberta dealer sometime in Feb - 2099 they hope....

The dealer suggested welding could possibly weaken the shaft. I'm riding in a couple days and am concerned about remaining strength.

If I do get it welded, should it be tig? Where should I weld? Is there a specific procedure to follow to help keep it strong?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

I'd have it welded or do it your self if you are able. Do a search for weld driveshaft on here and dootalk. There are a lot of pics and instructions detailing welding from last winter. I did mine, but dealer changed it out last week.
