08 RMK chaincase plug

I have read a lot of forums and threads about chaincase leaks/issues. My first step to try and solve this issue is to put either RTV or teflon tape on the plug and put a new o-ring on the plug before replacing the cover and/or gasket. Does anyone know if the o-ring on the drain plug is a flat nylon type washer or rubber donut type? Thanks...

It's just a rubber o ring. The problem is there is only about 2 threads on the drain plug and this is the reason they strip out and or leak. If you try to flat washer it, there won't be enough thread to reatin it properly.

I'll add to above post..

Also it go in at a slight angle..

no straight up and down

Thread it in first with your finger then tighten!

Ive been helping a local sled shop and I have a 08 dragon with the same problem. At the shop people are brining in sleds with stripped out drain plugs so we are giving them two options either we can replace the chaincase for I beleive around 130 or take some jb weld and clean up the area really well and put the plug back in. Obviously this cures the problem but now you dont have a drain plug. Just thought I would give some insight on what I've been seeing done, I personally think the new chaincase design is not very well thought out for the consumer. Good luck
