08 Phazer Hot Grips no work

Recall

Dealer has had my sled for over a week now!!!!!We just talked. he informed me that Yamaha didn't install the wiring harness in the Phazer mtn lites, WTF is kinda what I said...sorta...he told me that Yamaha just issued a recall bulletin this morn. Said maybe next week. Whats the odds of me just giveing them back the sled??? Very dissapointed ... Dino

sorry but returning the sled isnt an option, use to be a car salesman and you hear about people trying it all the time with no success. They will gladly keep your sled but you wont get anything back.

What you could do is ask them for your sled back take it back in when the wire loom shows up. Its a simple fix. If you only have issues with the hand warmers why are you so up set the xp crowd could only dream of just hand warmer issues.

Ahhhhh I dont know Ahhhhh maybe because they have had it for over a week and just now kinda maybe ????figured it out. I am spoiled, this is my 12th new sled in 20 years and the only warrenty item I ever had to claim was a froze up HPG shock on a 03 zx, and the dealer stole one off of a sled on his floor to get me going. And who pays for the fuel for two 300+ mile trips to the dealer...I doo. I hope there is no other issuies with the sled, hard to tell with only one ride on it. Dino

Took my 08 phazer MTX to dealer today to diagnose the non working hot grips. After looking things over for an hour the mechanic called Yamaha. Yamaha told him that all 08 mtx phazers are missing part of the wiring harness to make the hot grips work. They know they have a problem because yamaha guessed what the problem was before the mechanic told them. They have the parts available and are taking care of the problem. I guess if you are going to mess something up, might as well do it on a large scale.

Yeah, my wifes phazer hot grips have never worked either on her 08, Its a pain to take it to the dealer because its 200 miles round trip just to drop it off and pick it up next week.

Pizz Poor Heat

Installed the wiring harness. It appears to take ground from one side and positive from the other then twins and goes to each grip. It may be reversing the polarity. I never pulled it apart to see.

What I do know is the grip heat on high is hardly noticeable. WTF....over

Well we just got ours back yesterday, felt hot at an idle. We are rideing it today, and will let ya know, I ride with fairly thin gloves and have found that heaver gloves sometimes block alot of heat from getting to my hands, Dino

Our 08 after the wireing install from the dealer works fairly good, rideing in upper 20 degree weather with medium thick gloves with the setting about 3/4 up. Dino

I had heard about the ECU problem. I called the dealer and they had't heard of it but checked into it and ordered me one. When it comes in they will install and I'll let you guys know if it fixes the hard start and the hand warmers.

Starts better after the ECU. Replacing it did not fix hand warmers. Wife not happy. The season will be over before the warmers are fixed.
