The sled is brand new, first ride, the grips never did work. Headlights work, thumbwarmer works great...is there a relay or fuse somewhere I need to be looking at. Ya warranty but that's a round trip of 260 miles. Was hoping some one had a easy fix. Thanks Dino

I have a brand new 08 phazer. It is doing exactly the same thing. Hand warmers have never worked. Also my phazer is a lot harder to start than my nitro (even after it is warmed up). Help!

Ive not had a chance to ride the Phazer, we all went yesterday but I was in the groomer, I am fixing to go work on the sled and see what I can find. It either works or Yamaha can have it back. Dino

Hey guys, i put a set of 08 bars on my 07 phazer, same thing the warmers didnt work. Thumb warmer lights everything else was great-turns out its a different type of heating element on the 08 bars and it ended up frying the ecu that conrols the warmers-yes the ecu is the same between 07 and 08 so im not sure putting the 07 bars back on to see if ths helps.

Just came in from wrenching on the BRAND NEW sled, the only thing I can find was a lose positive cable on the battery. The fuses were all good, the grips seem to work at an Idle, however very slow to heat...hopefuly better when sled revs up???Not enough snow to stress test in the yard. Wifey would burn my eggs if I roared across the lawn...Dino

I had heard about the ECU problem. I called the dealer and they had't heard of it but checked into it and ordered me one. When it comes in they will install and I'll let you guys know if it fixes the hard start and the hand warmers.

Took the sled up the road, still no workieI guess its a trip to the dealer$$$$$$ Not a happy boy here. Dino

I hope you have warranty still- the dealer i bought mine from had to diagnos the entire electrical system and if nothing was found to be wrong it says in the service manual to replace ecu and bingo they worked- its was something to the jingle of 5 hrs labor and a $600 ecu.

i have a 07 and got it in the shop to get it ready for the winter and found out that yamaha is replacing the ecu to help it start faster and to fix the hand warmers for the 08 to

So what are you saying here...if the dealer finds no issues in there electrical diagnos ... they replace the ecu and charge ME. This a brand new unit ... I cant contact the dealer for its sunday and I am not sure if they will be opened on mon. I would think they will fix it I just have to get it to them. Dino

No if you have warranty still you wont be charged a dime. But yes in the service manual- i was with the dealer when we did it- its a step by step process checking all fuses, relays, connections, everything and at the end of the trouble shooting section it just says replace ecu-theres no way to check it just by replacing it.

no yamaha as recall posted for the ecu to fix that problem it a came out thursday check your dealer

Same problem with hot grips here. Picked up 08 phazer on Dec. 27 and rode first time on Dec. 29th. Hot grips never worked, but thumb warmer did. Didn't start as well as I thought it would when warmed up.

Starting

Yes it seems to take 6-8 seconds to start when its warmed up? I cant say why, as this is my first F.I. four stroke. Our 06 800 Rev is the only other sled that has e start, it fires right up...but like I said ...our first four stroke. Might just be the nature of the beast. Hope it has a strong starter? Dino

I work at a dealership, we've seen this already, or tech says it is a bad switch, we're hitting yamaha up on wednesday and i'll post back on the fix.

Yes the hot grip issuie, ...the dealer said mine was a bad switch...waiting waiting waiting on parts. What with the holidays and slow shiping it might be as early as this week. Dino

There is an update for the handwarmer issue. Before I brought mine home, the dealer changed it out. I'll have to find out what he did if you like.
