So bought a set of PowerMadd Handguards and the mounting hardware last week for my sled. Has anyone else ran into problems installing the powermadd brackets? Its like they are to small to go around my bars. Hope im not the only one getting my a** kicked by these

I ran into the same problem and ended up buying two mount kits to have two of the straight mounts that secure from the backside instead of from the bottom. On my sled which is an 08 m8 sno pro the hot grip wires are in the way so i notched the mount and then filed the mount and clamp to fit between the grip and controls. It sucked but came out really clean and should help keep my hands warm, cause we know how great the warmers dont work on the 08 cats.

I had the powermadd's on my 06 M7, 07 M8, and 07 M1000. I also notched it out for the wire. Only problem is that first time you hit a tree or roll your sled, the mount pivots and cuts the wire. As mentioned, the handwarmers don't work so great to start with. That's why I've just left the guards on and enjoyed the wind and snow protection from them. But I probably won't add a set to my new sled. Also can be a hassle when rolled or banged on a tree and the throttle side guard mount rolls to a point where it restricts the throttle until twisted back into place.

Thanks glad to know im not the only one that have had problems with these. Is there a better option for handguards? Something that mounts better and holds up better? I have never ran handguards and got these because my buddy runs them on his race sled. I thought they would hold up well but im starting to wonder now....

Go to your cat dealer and see if they have any for a M series. I plan on getting a pair. They don't clamp on to the bars. I think they mount with the existing screw holes on the master cylinder and throttle block. They show them in the Arctic cat catalog but it doesn't really show how they mount.

I've used the cat ones also. Personally, I was much happier with the powermadd. It depends on how and what you use your sled for. My sleds get rolled a lot. Usually to get unstuck, but occasionally it just happens. If you don't roll your sled much or hit many trees, the powermadd guards should work very well for ya.

Hmm, I've had a set of these for over a year now and never mounted cause they are too heavy. I was going to mount them on the wifes sled when/if we go to togwotee the last 3 times we nearly froze to death there. -35 below. She said her hands got cold:p I just can't justify the weight I spend too much money taking the weight off the sled only to add that back on.

on my 06 I tossed the stock bars and went w/ fly bars, risers and powermadd. Plan for my 08 is to once again get rid of stock bars. Fly bars, not sure what risers and acerbis handguards. Buddy runs them and bulletproof. They stay in place when the sled is rubberside up.

guards

i tryed them a few days and gave em to my buddy pos unless your on flat land then i could see with extreme temps, always adjusting them in mountains unless you tighten them then they will break. buy 30 dollar atv grip heaters that work and hard wire em heck they even last for years.

trying again
you may have to trim grab bar molding abit and move kill switch block/brake resevoir/light block just a hair

right side...grab bar/handguard bracket/killswitch block/grip
left side grab bar/handguard bracket with curve upward under brake reservoir/brake reservoir/headlight block/grip

no need to worry about torn handwarmer wires and the mounts have the options to mount several differant ways with the spacers...they center well and cover grip well...it took me a bit to figure them out

the wires are completely out of the way but you may have to create just a bit of slack in them,,,,but again play with the spacers to get both sides to have the deflectors centered even..so your brackets seemed small because they don;t go on grip...they go on the raw bar next to where the grab bar meets the bar with trimming the moulding abit and moving the killswitch/light/and brake resevoir mounts slightly
to make room for the brackets

sorry it took so long...it took me three nights before this forum let me post to your thread..??...got lucky and got one post thru yesterday to tell ya it would work then it wouldn;t let me post again...but tonight was fine...good luck and pm me if any problems...but i bought the kit and its all powermadd and i like the way they look and mount..

I cut the grips and got the wires loose enough to slide the bracket in between. I will make another attempt this weekend....
