08 M1000 intake

i'm putting a bdx black box in my M8, not sure if you can do any mods on the M1000 without a box. pipe, running board inserts, bar riser, lefty, venting, bumper mod, hood vents prefiltered, handgaurds, clutching, powerclaw, 2010 seat, tether, 2 wheel kit, oil pump delete, headlight delete that should keep you busy for awhile:)

get an m8 with full slp exhaust, the m1000 is not worth having without mods(fuel box) in my opinion, but unmatched in performance with mods.

Powerclaw is the best mod

I have a 08 M1000 with a light weight can. It ran great. I took it in to get the 09 update, and now it runs not so good. It is running rich. I was told that i can now run a y pipe or an after market air intake with out having to put on a fuel box. The best thing to do is put on the air intake and keep an eye on your plugs to see if you are running to lean.

HEHE, yeah, my sled won't even get out of it's own way...
Neither did the 08 M1000 we just sold...
Both were/ are turnkey sleds with minimum 20hp over stock with NO BOX. I will never put a bd box on an M1000 again.

You just need to do the RIGHT mods & be careful as you go to run an M1000 without a box.

Crossfire, what altitude are you at?

What you can do to an M1000 depends on two things IMO, altitude & fuel rail PSI, some come a little low, some come a little high. If yours is on the mid to high side you can do a decent amount without a box. If it's not, then you need a fuel reg.

When I was picking up the sled I got from Zollingers in UT last spring, they had a M1000 with a full SW setup with no fuel box, just using a fuel reg. I know they weren't just riding that thing at 11k+, their local spot is as low as 7k if I recall.
My 1000 runs perfect down to 9kish, then it needs some race gas to go below 8500 or so to avoid egts above 1280.

It's all in how you do it.

I have a speedwerx intake, y-pipe, and tunnel dump muffler on my 07 M1000 and no fuel controller. Most of my riding is done 9000 feet and up though. More important than those in my opinion are the changes I've made to shed weight. There is a lot of weight to be taken off of the big M. I can list those for ya if you'd like, but don't want you to think I'm changing your topic too much.

I have a Arctic Cat SnoPro intake with vents cut into the nose cone/belly pan (like the BDX intake), SLP Y-pipe, Super-Q can and NO fuel box on my 2007 M1000 with the 09 update. I run at 5-9000 feet and have 2700 miles on the sled with this set up. I have never checked the fuel pressure (probably should have before the mods). If I were to guess, I am probably in the mid to high side of fuel pressure. My plugs(pain in the a$$ to check on the hill) have always looked right on. A friend I ride with has an 08 with almost the same setup except an SLP can. No issues with his either. Both are strong running sleds. Now that I have posted this, they will both probably burn down. I am going to put an Air/Fuel gauge on it to see where I am at though.

Adding a Powerclaw would be the first thing I would change. I noticed a difference immediately on the trail and in the powder.

diamond s hood, holz rear suspension w/ FLOAT shocks, BDX pro lite drive(geared down to 57/63), BDX rear bumper, 09 rear cooler, skid seat, 2 wheel kit. Also for function I have a set of cpc snow eliminators and an attack 20 track. I'd prefer the powerclaw, but I had the attack 20 so it didn't cost me anything. If I were to do it again, I'd go with a TIMBERSLED rear suspension and probably gear it down even more.

Free agent on here.

She's the only place to get cat parts from IMO.

There's a lot of weight loss on the 1000 that is either free or very low cost.
insulation, wheels, lights, lightweight screens that keep snow out, windshield, oil delete, on the 08 weight can be saved with delrin bushings, A arms get pricey, but they pull unsprung weight & right off the front of the sled. A lot can be done. Our 141 is under 500 wet.

btw, my PSA for the day...

T-sled skid would be my last choice for weight loss... but after seeing a number of them junked, I'm just a tad biased.

Gut all the extra chit outta the hood ya dont need it. They put all that crap in for noise polution control. I use the timbersled intake in both my M's and love how it crispened up the the throttle response. Damon

I believe the PC was 1 lb lighter than the stock 153. It was supposed to be more, but didn't come out as light as I recall they were saying.

Even if it was 5 lbs heavier I feel it would be worth the weight & $$
