08 Dragon 800 warranty transfer question?

08 Dragon 800 warranty transfer question (or questions) - went in to the local Polaris dealer today to transfer the warranty over to my name since I finally got the title work done. They want $25 and for me to fill out a form and supply all maintenance records - huh? Looking in the owners manual there is no maintenance for the first 1000 miles other than inspection and greasing the rear suspension, driveshaft bearing, jackshaft bearing (how would you do that since it is a sealed bearing on this sled?). Oh, and lubing the throttle cable.

Plus they want the seller signature. And a copy of the bill of sale. Huh? We do titles in MT, not bills of sale, and it takes many weeks to get that.

What if I don't transfer it, with all the 800 issues, are they still going to cover my motor if something happens?

This is annoying. Why can't they just have the dealer type in the VIN and the new owner info and be done with it?

We were looking at a 800 for my wife. My dealer said, just as long as they had a vin# it wouldnt matter.... they didnt care where, who, or what it came from...

Your dealer is wacked. We bought to D8s, called the dealer (Tri-City) and gave them the VINs and our names and they transfered the warranties.

Maybe they are thinking extended warranty or something?

Technically the sled is on its extended / second year warranty that comes with the snowcheck sleds. Were yours 08's or 09's? This sled did come out of Tri-City Polaris, maybe I should call them and see if they would do the transfer for me. This form is a mail-in form to be sent in with the $25 check to a Denver address.

I'll agree, the process is complicated. It wouldn't be a problem if it was still factory warranty, but GE is a major pain in the arse to deal with and everything has to be "by the book". Which means, that yes, unfortunately, you sadly have to jump through all the hoops to get your extended contract transfered. I've dealt with it both ways and trying to cut corners always screws the whole thing up in the end.

Sorry to bring up an old post but I'm having the same issue. I just bought a 2011 Rush Retro used with 470 miles on it. Its been 3 days since a dealer I have doing the transfer has gotten back to me about it.
What happened with the OP? Did you get it figured out, or anyone else have this issue?
TIA!

Turned out mine had just the factory warranty with an extra year on drivetrain, all done through Polaris, so when the dealer entered my VIN and name and address, everything was updated in their computer system. Got the 2010 update letter in the mail and everything was covered even when the electronics (regulator and ECU) blew (minus deductible). On my own now though, so I hope nothing blows again... going to try to do everything I can to make sure it does not, such as a cooling fan on the electronics, and possibly a PCV to richen up midrange.

Edit: They returned my form and check and said no extended warranty on file. Talked to my dealer about it and they apologized and told me the above info.
