08 dragon 800 rebuild

just bought my sled 3 weeks ago, i have taken it on 3 rides and had problems on each ride, first ride high end bogging, second ride mid range and high end bogging, my 3rd ride yesterday sled wouldnt stay running or run, over heated once at top of mountain. anyway did a compression check today. this will be my first time doing the top end in a sled, took the pistons out. and i believe what is the mag side had some bad scoring in the cylinder and i have no idea what needs to be done there or how to go about it, if i get a new cylinder or get it re coated? i have no idea lol

i called the polaris dealer to run the vin to see what had been done they said it had the 2009 upgrade installed. that being said with that upgrade im wondering if i can use "the fix" kit from pmspolaris.com, the guy at the dealership just told me to get pro pistons

Run the fix kit!!! The pro pistons wont fix the real issue here!! How bad is the scuffing on the cylinders? just visible, light scratching? gouging? If its light, honing will probably be enough. If it is bad you can find mono block for a good price as well, but only 08 and 09 mono blocks i believe will work. the newer years have a bigger diameter cylinder skirt and would require machining to fit your case. I've done several kits on these motor now and the piston slap from the factory is UNREAL!! the fix kit will give you longevity and peace of mind. Wouldn't be a bad idea to pair it up with a PCIII or V and a Dyontech Research (DTR) mid range fueling map. Itll be a whole new sled!

The cylinder was gouged, i have a reman. From millennium, and I'm going to get the fix kit, hopefully if all goes well i will only be out for one weekend,

I was also looking at the pcV with dyno tech mapping, but i was also wondering about the reflash from polaris, do i have to get the most recent reflash before i get the pcv?

And also with the PC V.. I buy it then subscribe to dynotech and its all downloaded from their website to the pc v?

Dyno tech is great and will help you get the right map for your set up, but you will need a laptop to down load the map to and then load the map onto the PC5. You will also need to sync your throttle to the PC5. So you will need to get the computer out to the sled, hence the need for the laptop.
As for reflash, MTNTK recommends the original 08 ecu flash for elevation....call them and see what they say.

I have one other question concerning the power commander, can i get the pc 5 for the 2008? On the website pc 5 shows for the 09-present and shows the pc III For the 08, also how do you go about getting the mapping from them?

And was also thinking about doing some clutch work. Suggestions?
