'08 Diamond Drive weight - Unbelievable!

if you get the 09 reflash you can have electronic engine reverse, with a new helix and run a wire.

I'd have to change out my Cutler torsion spring secondary setup to get the reverse helix. Also, I don't think the oil pump pumps in reverse on this year, although I have been considering the BDX oil delete kit anyways I guess.

Great thread. I to have an 08M1K and the BDX lite is on my shopping list for this season. I was wondering what the weight savings was so it will be great to see what you come up with on your scale. I plan on doing the electronic reverse too and will be doing the oil injection delete so I don't have to worry about the oil pump not working in reverse. I was also wondering if people are seeing higher track speeds due to the loss of rotating mass. I will be running a Powerclaw instead of my Extreme and BDX lite which will equate to a lot less rotating mass and I have high hopes of seeing some higher track speeds.

sorry to rain on this parade, but you dont save that much weight.
you wont notice the difference when you ride it
you wont climb any higher
rotating mass is that important if the distance from the mass to cener of rotation is small, like the radius of a gear.
i wasted time on this once and would never do it again
I am getting so old, that I missed reverse and sold the sled.

if you have an 08, you can wire the electronic reverse so that's a non-issue. please don't PM how to do it, its posted on here somewhere else i'm sure. And you do notice how much lighter the sled feels, how much more snappy the throttle response, etc. Chris - i'm suprised you couldn't tell the difference. I sure did, and the BIGGEST reason to do this is two-fold - WAY stronger than the stupid stock gears (which i've seen blow MANY times), and you get to regear.

hey Aaron - you sure it was a dd lite you bought? That seems like a smokin' deal if so! awesome. What gears were in it?

Also, you can still use a torsion spring secondary setup, you just need a stiffer torsion spring - try culters new Orange torsion spring. it works!

as for the oil pump, its not big deal as long as your not one of those "run it in reverese going down hill types"!

Positive. Here's the proof. The gears in the drive I bought are M8 (57/63) gearing. Disregard the extra set of gears in the picture. Those are also M8 gears he was selling separate, but not sure if those are BDX. SnowBlind, I have to totally disagree with you on not being able to feel rotating mass gone. Sorry!

Here's the new Drive. It weighs in at 13.2lbs so it is a loss of 10.2lbs of total rotating mass. The driveshaft you have to buy to run this they say is "lightweight", but it is actually only about 7oz. lighter than the stock one. So there claim of saving you 11lbs is right if you round up, which they all seem to do.
