EDIT: I ended up buying a BDX lite-weight drive and shaft, so this stock one is for sale. '08 with 800 miles. First $300 takes it............

Pulled the Challenger track tonight to install the new Power Claw and cannot believe how heavy the mechanical DD is. You electronic reverse guys are lucky! I was gonna regear it while I had it out, but now I am really considering going ahead and getting the BDX lightweight drive and shaft. Over 23lbs!!! What kills me is about 90% of this weight would be rotating mass. And I was gonna port my track to loose a couple pounds of rotating mass. I think I have finally gotten my priorities straight now.......................Sure hate dropping the $775.00 though instead of $220.00! BTW....anyone want to buy a stock DD? Better yet, anyone have a BDX they need to move? PM me if so.

Exactly why I went with the BDX pro lite drive on both of my 07s. That weight is ridiculous and I haven't had a single regret not having reverse so far. Also, on my M1000 I gernaded 2 stock diamond drives but haven't had a problem with the BDX.

hey

I was cruising craigslist and found a bdx gearcase for $400 here in my hometown of Anchorage, AK. Also has the trackshaft for $60, some wear on the drivers. Check craigslist, alaska, rv section. parts/arctic m, a little ways down the page. Tim

Treekiller, I just called and bought it via PayPal! He is mailing it UPS Monday. Thanks for popping in with this literally 3 minutes after I posted it. He was a really nice guy. I enjoyed the visit with him. God I love this forum................................

The stock dd is supposed to be worth a good buck, if you switched and sold the stock one i don't think the dd lite would end up costing all that much. The only problem is you have to fork out the cash first and hope you can recover it later, i think you would be able to sell it over time though if its in good shape which it looks like it is.

dammit treekiller, my buddy was just about to call him...lol. Whats wrong with the can, manufactor preferrance?

They havent updated their site most likely, it will work I have no doubt. A lil stove bright will make it look pretty spiffy lol. All other brands have matching part numbers for 07-09 m8's and most use the same for 7's and 6's. The OEM part number for the 08 and 09 factory mufflers are the same.

FYI. I think that you will have to get the BDX drive shaft to complete your conversion. The stock shaft is a little shorter to compensate for the longer stock reverse hub off the DD. Check into it, but thats what I had to do on my '08.

It's part of the deal..............Thanks!

23.8 LBS, WOW! Whats the weight of the BDX suppose to be? How much will a guy really save?

dd lite is awesome, feels 50% lighter in your hands. You can throw away the reverse soleniod and actuaetor. The gears are forged not welded, so lighter, but you'll need the bdx driveshaft due to length change.

best mod i've done, now if i could sell the old dd, maybe keep it all for emergency.

The 09 is lighter w/ elec reverse but the stock case is still used so it has some of the weaknesses and bulky, imo. dd lite has a dipstick for fluid checking that cool. but cool is pricey..........

He mailed it UPS 2nd Day Air today from Anchorage and sent me tracking info. Should see it Tuesday! Can't wait to get it and the Power Claw in and spinning...............The driveshaft was sent with it. Don't want to change the thread here, but I can't decide if I want to port the PC or not. Going back and forth.

If you can please show us the weight of the new one on the same scale! with pics if possible!

I certainly will because weighing it was gonna be the first thing I do when it comes out of the box. I think the 11lbs drop BDX claims is with the lightweight driveshaft to, so I am expecting the drive unit alone to be about 9lbs less or so. Remember though, that is rotating mass which will be huge.

dont be carzy, keep your stock DD as a backup...

Fun Fact: the DD lite still has the same POS plant gearset
