08 D8 with 300 miles on update, died, ecu may be smoked?

re-using orings = dancing with the devil.....not worth the risk in my opinion......I don't re-use condoms either...lol

suitcase69 was that your 08 or 09??

It was my 08, my 09 has a diffrent motor so that worry is gone. I have been thinking on that voltage reg. problem, and the extra juice with no where to go. What would happen if you put that extra light in the center and hook it up solid. Would that keep enough power away from the reg? Would it fix the life of one?

suitcase, I do run the projector light in mine..have since I bought it in dec. 07, I always have it with the highbeams on(center light on as well)...over 3000 miles on mine, never had an issue with the VR(I did just replace it about a month ago just to be safe and the original is in my pack just in case...)

That is good to hear. Sounds like that might be the ticket, to get reid of the extra power. And having a spare is not a bad idea.

take it to your dealer, that engine is still covered under warranty until June 1st!!!
I did, Polaris covered parts minus $50 deduct, dealer labor and supplies at about $40, they had to get an ECU off a 2010 floor model, out the door for $90, gotten 2 rides in since then. Contemplating a third ride, depending on weather... and other factors... :face-icon-small-win
