08 dragon 800.

A friends sled. Its only pulling 7800 rpms on a slight pull. Im thinking pull some wt out but what else can be done to gain rpm?

its got about 1200 miles on it.

clutch has never been pulled or cleaned. what is the maintenance on a poo?

What wieghts are stock?

How doo i change the weights?

What else can i try or look for?

Belt deflection was way loose so i adj that. track just barely moves at idle.

cleaned sheaves and cleaned new belt.

Sounds like very little if any maintanence has been done. I would suggest cleaning and putting everything back into spec before changing the clutching. If you have never cleaned the clutch and it has 1200 miles on it, it is probably worn out now.

0 maintenance as far as i know. was thinking the same but just asking the polaris guys. Thanks.

10-62 is stock weights... what altitude does he ride it at? A stocker won't pull 10-62s at 8-10k.

Check and clean exhaust valves and while you have them out look in and see if the pistons are scuffed... If it has 1200 miles on the current pistons then there is a reasonable chance the pistons are scuffing. Depending on how bad, that will affect RPM.

As crashnbash says, clutches probably need some TLC at this point.

TPS can affect RPM as well.

1200 approx on machine. about half that after the top end recall. It was done at enumclaw polaris where he asked them to check the clutches at the same time. So who knows if it happened at all. They wanted to charge him $90 for a clutch tool or 45 to inspect it. Anyway im gonna find him a tool and pull it isp it and clean. I started a poo toolbox file from threads on here. Is there a shop that has a recipe for these?

X10 on the maintance, it is very important. Along with the new belt. that could fix issues

Sorry about that. 3-6000ft.. That 7800 was this weekend at about 4500-5000. Wasnt pow obviously, a little crust on top.

After my update... a 2010 motor in a 2009, The sled ran fairly well for 300 miles. Then every ride after it would drop 100 rpms. would adjust clutch weight and next ride would loose it again. Finally bought the Mntek kit.
