08 800 down in HP

I have heard that the 08's are down around 142hp where the 09's are at 152hp. Has anyone else heard of this, also my understanding is the reflash on the 08 will bring them up to the 09 spec's....thanks

It's the same motor, they only changed the clutching a bit, so it would run cooler. I believe that the 08s were being touted as having 151 hp last year.

I can tell you this, my 08 flat rips! Never had a better sled IMO! I'm not to worried about an 09 beating it.

Some sleds do run better than others. On the dynotech web site they say they have dyno'd 800R's from 142 to 151 hp in stock form. Said that adding timing helped bring the 142hp sleds closer to the doo claimed 150, adding timing did nothing for the already 150hp motors. Problem is you dont know what hp motor you have until you dyno it.

The 07, 08, and 09 bottom ends are all different, They all have different part numbers for remanufactured short blocks. They have changed the cranks every year. I beleive they are getting the bottom ends ready for direct injection (we can only hope).

The 07 800R in the Rev chassis makes more power than the 08 800R...about 5hp difference. WHY...EPA regs.
Difference between 08 and 09...anyone trying to say something about an 09 right now is just blowing smoke cause NO ONE has one yet. The aftermarket companies probably have a few but when have any of us believed their hp claims anyway.

Well I guess just attending the 09 tech update school does not count for knowing about the 09' products . :D

The day DI comes out, I'll be investing in a mod motor. Say goodbye to tinkering.

Lots of dyno's around here peg the 07/08 at about 147

So what did BRP do to meet EPA regs for the 08? Can it be undone? Maybe reflash the computer?:confused::confused:

the 08s' (two tested) were both about 2 hp less than the 07s'.....the culprit was a too restrictive airbox....the solution was to put 2 flo-rites in the back of the air box, between the airbox and the fuel tank....takes them right back to 151, which is what they had the year before.............and cpi has an 09 in the dyno room now, and has had it for about 2 weeks....should have some numbers out anytime, but initial results look like a small improvement
