08 700 RMK Track Speed?

Hi all....I am experiencing allot of the known issues with low RPMs (7800) when pulling hills and riding deep powder at 8-10K feet. Has a 155" track and The sled is bone stock, stock gearing, 155" track, and nothing modified yet. Normally run 58s and have tried 56s.

I will be taking some of the suggestions posted. If I get this thing pulling good revs and transfer the HP, but leave the engine stock, what can I expect my track speed to be pulling hills? As is, I'm in the mid 30s on average. I weigh about 175.

Thanks everyone..

I ran 10-58 on mine at that elevation. Was having same problem then put a new 321115 polaris belt on and seemed to pull more Rs.

I got the same issue, mines piped and geared, purge hoses plugged some days it pulls 8300 others it wont. Mine seems like the exhaust valves wont open untill it gets good and hot, then she pulls fine like after 2 or 3 good runs back to back, and yes the valves are clean and bellows oil free. Does anyone have suggestions on helix's? Carls?

I changed out my exhaust valve springs to yellows and it seemed to make mine pull the rpms a little more consistant. It almost seemed that the valves weren't quite opening all the way all the time. Its only about $30 for both springs so it might be worth it to try and see if mine was just a fluke or if it works for you too.

What are you guys getting for track speed when pulling a hill in powder on a day when the machine is running well?? I ask because once I get it where I think it is running well, I want to be able to compare it to what others are running at.

Thanks guys......

It's kinda hard to remember from last year, seems like I was pulling around 38 or 40, but you might have to wait another month before you get some for sure answers

i was getting 38-39 with my old clutching and 174 and slp twins never checked lastyear but it pulled way harder when the intake temp sensor wasnt flashing at me. i would think you guys running the stock track should be able to get more track speed???

track speed

I have noticed basically the same thing. My D7 is geared at 19-42, and otherwise is stock. I believe the 700's problem ls at the helix. I am going to try Carl's Cycle clutch kit this year. They sell a custom machined dual angle piece. I will try it before I install my new track later.

I have been losing R's in really deep and on the hills somewhat. I'll have to log my TS???

I'll keep it posted

upper 30s to around 40, at 8100, at 9K, and I would be very happy. I think the 155, 2.4" is too much for the 700 to pull stock without lower gearing and perfect clutching among other things. I believe these new sleds are built and will perform to expecations when all components are in perfect working condition (not very good) but perfect working condition. That means clean clutches, replace springs, shim this and shim that to exactly .001", and ya dont let the belt wear down to .005" under spec or it needs to be replaced. And also make sure TPS is recalibrated yearly and oh ya a fuel management system should get you where you need to be. I'm not complaing at all because Poo and others are only giving us what we demand. And they have to do it at a reasonable price. We just won't settle for less anymore....still can't beat a day in the mountains on a Polaris. Just sayin'... :face-icon-small-hap
