08 700 Dragon w/pipe vs 08 M8?

Trying to decide between the two...had a line on an 800 Dragon but didn't pan out. Can't find any other ones for sale that aren't 163. Let me know if you know of anyone in AB selling one. Back to the subject...just wanna know which would be a better boggan power wise?

Get an 08 M8 and put the slp pipe kit on it with there clutching setup and I say the M8 for sure. I like the extra torque of the 800 class engines much better. People can say what they want about the dragon 700 having almost as much hp but the torque on the m8 is much better. Install the slp pipe and gain over 10 more hp on the M8 and they really run.

I can't say which is better, because the only one I've ridden is the '08 700 dragon. Anymore I don't think any mountain sled is a bad sled and therefore it comes down to having a great dealership that will work with you. The 700 is a bulletproof motor and is extremely respectable on the mountain. I've yet to have any problems and have heard of very few issues with them as well. Add a different gearing setup and an SLP Air Horn for an additional $110 and you will have a mean mountain sled. MY $.02's.

To tell you the truth, the guys I ride with are on Ski-doo's, so I haven't put it up against an 800 yet.

I have both a 08 700D and a 07 M8, the 700 is very fun but seems to lack that grunt in the mountains that the m8 has. I Geared the 7, changed the helix and vented the crap out of it, as well changed the suspension a little and it did make a nice difference but the M8 always was ahead. I did the SLP pipe kit on the M8 and then it wasn't even close that really woke up the M8. both are great sleds but with a little money I feel you can go a lot further with the M8 in both power gains and weight loss IMO!!

End of the day they are both great sleds

Are you running a boondocker box with the pipe? I'm looking at a used 08 M8 standard,its got the three year warranty on it still, but I really want a D8 just because of the extra options, and extra power. Was pricing out a leftover M1000 yesterday...but I'm not sure how I would like that...especially if I piped an m8, would probably waste an m1 from what I hear. The price was right on it, but It'll just about break me till payday...lol...so after I pick up a tarp and can....that'll be it till after xmas for mods. Dealer in Prince George has some used d8's not sure on the mileage or price yet, gonna call them tomorrow. Got a trip coming up on the 27th....decisions, decisions.....
