08/09 Running board snow build up

In my 05 and 07 I put in snow eliminators and they helped a lot with the snow buildup, but never as good as I liked. I just bought an 09 and wonder if the new style is good enough to run stock, or do I need to mod them. I would want at least as good of clearing as my 07 with Snow Eliminators.

What options are there?

How are Fastlane's 09 style "no snows". Are they strong? Clear well?

I have had a 07 with sno eliminators as well as an 08 with the new boards. So far I have had about the same amount of snow build up in each....so I see no reason to mod the boards on your 09. You aren't going to gain much by doing it.

I would assume from the 09 design that the snow would pile from the backside? Nothing to stop the track from rear entrance from the sides!

1mike900 nailed it!

Yup, the rear portion of the foot boards fill up with snow from the rear. Arctic Cat has plastic plates that rivets to the rear of the boards and the tunnel behind the boards. I have them on my sled and they work fairly well but, they don't totally eliminate the snow on the boards.

They come in mulpile colors and are cheap, so they are worth your time to buy and install.

My boards stayed as clear as the eliminators. Replacing the whole board with metal grating is probably the only way to really keep'em clear, but even then if the snow wants to pack...

On my '09 I run the Fastlane No-Sno boards and they work much much better than the stock boards. Just to do a side by side comparison I only installed one No-Sno board and left it that way for two weeks. It was cleary evident that there was much less snow on the side with the No-Sno boards installed. Plus with the boards being plastic (not aluminum) they attach much less snow. Seems snow sticks to aluminum much more than plastic. The boards seem to be durable, I haven't had any cracks or issues with them yet.

So I am happy with the No-Sno boards.

i installed no sno's on my 06 crossfire and went straight to cooke city. didn't find all that much powder, but when i did throw it over, i could feel the powder fall between my feet. its pretty sweet. takes a lot of getting used to because the no sno's are pretty much flush with the outer edge of the running board. feels weird, but the traction screws dig into your boots good. i still don't think im used to it, but i like no snow in my boards.

Can one of you please post a link for the No-Sno Boards?

The stockers are better than any boards I have ever used but, yes the aluminum does seem to retain the snow.

I noticed that with a small conscious effort after a bit of playing to just smash your foot into the footwell and swipe as far back as you can comfortably go, keeps the boards clear all day. If you let gobs build and pack and freeze you will have problems. I wish they would have redesigned the footwell better, everyone I know who has or rides the new tunnel complains about lack of a foothold. Had thoughts of making a Yamaha-ish toe hold out of aluminum tube but have been too lazy so far.
