Finally finished my 860 just this past Wed, just in time for Christmas.

Nothing too special but just more of updating and addressing all the issues assiocated with the 07 Summits.

First was to get rid of the challenger lite track and install a 2.25 powdermax track with a set of smitty's drop brackets.

Next I got rid of the stock XRS seat and installed the new Boss seat with a million zippers, awesome seat.

Then I got rid of the yellow and blue as well as the stock hood that was cracked and went with a blue and black color, more appealing to me and added the white number plates on the sides as well as the sled head racing stickers.

Finally the engine was removed and after talking with Big John at sled head racing we decided to send the cases out to be checked for proper tolerances and found that they were in fact too tight (common issue with all 07 800r engines) so the proper machining was done.

We then checked the crank and found that the PTO end was .010 out, the venter was .008 and the mag was .006 out. The two PTO end bearings were in pretty rough shape with only 1200 miles so the decision was made to replace the 2 end bearings and the crank was then trued, PTO, center and mag.

To compliment the work on the bottom end the primary was sent out and balanced to prevent any unnecessary stress on the crank.

Now that the bottom end was complete next we focused on the cylinders. We decided on a 860 set that was more mountain specific for porting since that is where the sled will be ridden the most although it will be ridden around here in MN a little as well as used for the hill drags. The top was assembled with the cast dual ring 860 pistons and a 13-1 RK-tek was installed for 91-92pump fuel here in MN for break-in and then will be changed out for a higher compression for the hills when I go.

Lastly I decided on the straightline Y-pipe, quick clickers, mbrp can and also a team secondary to finish everything out.

I think that all potential isssues were addressed and want to thank Big John for all the parts and help.

Pics are kinda poor cause it's snowing like a bich outside so I shot them in my garage. Will ride it tomorrow for break-in and then will do some clutch tuning on Sun.

Sweet sled, I thought about the 860 kit this year but couldn't do it. I have heard awesome things about that motor. Big John knows his stuff.

so what kinda coin does that cost? i'm thinking when the 800 H.O. goes on my 05, thats what i'm gonna do

With your H.O you will have to go with the 840, not enough room for the 860 on the older engines. he 860 kit is $1995 but not sure on the 840 but it has to be close though.

Been tuning and have found the sled to pull so much harder than the stocker did last year that I am blowing right through the clutching, full shift out in a short run. Have geared up two teeth on top and will try to gear up some more but the thing really pulls hard, very happy.

Going to ride my XP today to break that in, don't want to let that thing just sit but it is hard now with the 860 in the stable.

You will find that the 860 will be out far more then your XP. Did an 860 along with a list of other stuff on my 07 last year and ended up selling my XP because I never rode it. That sled with the setup you have is almost unstoppable enjoy! :D:beer;
