07 Went on BELT EATING RAMPAGE!

This day started with Idaho Slim blowing a motor on the trail in.

Got the updates done in Nov., put on a new belt and it ran great for about 200 miles. After that the clutches started to get hot and the belts started to lose cords. I sent my belts to the dealer with my wife and got the usual BS:

1. We don't have any belts, the XP's ate them all. (40 in two days)

2. We can't warranty your belts unless we have the sled here.

3. Etc. Etc. Etc.

So I said OK send me my belts back so I can ride and I hope fully nurse them till you get some more.

Went riding and blew the first one on the mountain, I mean BLEW UP, as in little pieces and cords melted around the primary. F'in pain in the ***, cut all that **** off, put on my crap spare and headed out.
Made it to the trail before that one BLEW UP, really bad that time, cords around the PTO shaft etc. you get the picture.

Towed out by a Yami Nytro, (only thing it was good for all day, besides getting incredibly stuck)

Loaded on the trailer and took that POS to the dealer just like it was.

They said they could definitly warranty my belts now, probably the clutch too, I'm thinking maybe the motor as well, you know, High RPM's sudden over-rev, followed by sudden stopage.

What a day, DEEP POW, sunshine, stuck sleds everywhere, and stuff blowin' up.

Can't wait to get my sled back though!

All in the set up my friend. I am still on orginal belt at 1000 miles. Rode in 5ft of powder this week that was best in years. Over the hood all day. I moved the belt up on the secondary as it has worn some but still pulling hard with lots of WOT all day. If you were not WOT you were digging. Call Turbo AL in Revelstoke at the SLed Shed and he will get you the spring to make that sled work. I did have to add more weight to the clutches after the updates were done. Clutches seem to run much freer with the new set up. I have a 44-40 Helix and my buddy has the same sled with the straight 44. We both needed more weight after the updates. I am still tuning to get it exactly right. I was running hollow pins and had added 3 grams but I am trying another 3 so I can run in clickers in #4 for 5000 to 7000 ft elevations. Will run in 5 when in Canada and Mt. Baker. Also the clutches seem to free up with more use after the updates. Was in clicker #3 at Revy, then went down to #2 in WA state and RPM's got back to 8500 so I am in #1 now and adding 3 more grams.

I agree

I ain't seen clicker 1 - 4 since I bought this sled new. When I do get it back I am going into the clutches myself.

I brought up the 44-40 helix with the service guys and never got a straight answer.

Here are my ideas - 160-320 spring, weight to run in the lower clickers (hopefully), 44-40 helix, and gear down to a 20 or 19 on top.

I will call Al, at this point I will try anything.

I agree about the updates, it did run good for a while, but I think something gave up in the primary, I suspect the bushing. If it did damage the clutch I will get one warrantied.

The dealer I am working with are pretty good guys and seem willing to work with me on getting things done under warranty. I hate to keep throwing money at this sled just to get stock performance, I am sure other Doo owners feel the same.

This sled is the reason I didn't order a new XP.

Xrs 151

Altitude 7 -10K, What do you think?

I did put that new track on and it has been great, I can do cool stuff like carve downhill and go back up, while not getting stuck now. Climb on top of the snow, etc.

Help me with the clutch man, the season is young and I have some more POO 800's to beat on.

160/320 primary, 44/36 helix with stock purple, adjustable pins with about 15-16g, or whatever amount of weight it takes to run on clicker 4-5 at 8200 on a climb, let it rev to 8400 on the flats......unles it's a 144 then same settup with 44/40 helix.
Use only the Doo 166 belt.
