07 RMK 600ho Engine light

Ok, what happens is when I crack it open and hold it for any amount of time, the check engine light comes on and it bogs down (seems to run on one cylinder) until I let off for a few seconds. The light will go out and it will be back to normal, until I crack it open again. It seems to get worse as the machine gets warmed up. When it is still relatively cool, I can hit 8000 rpm, and hold it at 7500 for a while before the light comes on, but as I ride it more, the light comes on any time I hit 6000rpm. My first thought was bad gas, so I added octane enhancer (should be close to 94 now) with no results. My next step was disconnect the DET sensor, and that didnt stop it either. Jetting is good too. I also cleaned the power valves. Please help, I am stumped.....

Oh, and BTW, the light comes on solid for a period of time, it doesn't blink.

dead horse

I had a problem like yours on my 06 600 but it would only get about 4000 rpm's. Mine was the 12.00 temp sender in the head. Now I carry a spare. Should be a check with a electrical guage to test it. Good luck!!

thanks for the replies, guy.....In another post i was told it could be an intermittent spark plug caused by a faulty wire, or possibly coil? There is lots of spark there when I check though. If it was a air bubble in the cooling system, how would a guy go about circulating it out?

Gotta get the nose of your sled up high. Higher than the back bumper, then there should be a bleed srew on the head near the thermastat. Sometimes they come right out, other times you have to fight them, but th key is to lift the nose, if your have a two place tilt bed trailer that would work if tilted.

Just had a similar problem

I just purchased a new 08 700 RMK a week ago and had this exaxt same problem. On the first ride out at about mile 14 my sled started doing the exact same thing. I would hammer the throtle and the machine would just die out, now being as it only had 14 miles on it i was pretty pissed/worried. I looked under the hood and checked everything mechanical, it turned out it was wiring issues. My wiring harness had a wire that kept grounding out, it even took the local shop a while to discover it. All I had to do was wrap some electrical tape around the wires and the problem was solved. Make sure to look at all your wiring, hope this helps.
