'07 nose diver? what gives?

Hi all! Got a question for you guys who have been on the newer style sleds. I have an old '99 SKS 136x2 and just rode a buddies 07 144x2 or 2.25 whatever, we were in fresh powder which was probably over 4 feet deep if not more. It was awesome I may add! I have never been stuck so many times. My question is, his sled sure seemed to nose dive when you got off the throttle, enough to throw you off! Over the front. Being that I am very used to my old couch style sled I am wondering if these sleds have put too much weight forward, trying to get the rider up more? And now the tracks are sooo long does this really push the front end? Let me know guys, just curious as to what's going on. I want to buy a new style sled but after this I am not really sure off what I should be looking at. Thanks.

In order to effectively ride a rider-forward chasis you are going to have to relearn a little bit of what you thought you knew. Control inputs, body positioning, counter steering, throttle position and use, etc....they all play into the correct techniques with the newer style sleds. You may be feeling the nose dive because of the higher CG or lighter design.

Big thing is, when you adjust to the newer chasis designs, you can never ever go back. The old sleds just wear you out considerably more than the newer ones.

just get one..

The rider forward makes quite a bit of difference and does take a bit to get used to. If you are riding standing up with your feet in the toe holds you will stick the nose when you stop or you will need a lot of power to plow thru the snow. Try standing with your feet back a foot or so from the wells, the sled will level out and just cruise along. Depending on how heavy you are, the farther back the better. Once you ride a newer styled sled for a day, you will not want to go back! I went from an 03 summit to an 07 rev and I probably will never ride the 03 again.

YOu may also not be used to the clutching on newer sleds, they have awesome backshift, also one reason when you let off the trottle they slow right down no more freewheelin which could almost put you over the bars and if they are set up right one should be able to go down a fairly steep hill with arms in the air no brake necesseray. and also what everyone else said
