07 M8 driven clutch damage

The bushing in my driven clutch floating sheave (inboard sheave that is opened by the helix) is pretty scarred. This is the part that rides on the stationary sheave shaft, and is made from a non-metal material. The stationary sheave shaft is fine. Can’t seem to find the culprit, and when I showed it to my dealer, he thought it could be belt dust??? I had it apart last year, but am sure I fully cleaned it before reassembly.

Regardless, I’m wondering if anyone else has seen this, and figured out a fix besides buying a new driven clutch. Arctic Cat sells only the driven clutch, and not just the sheave. It looks like the bushing was pressed in by the factory, and could be removed if someone sold a replacement.

Based on what I found, I need to deal with this soon.

i have tried this on my '08 m8 and ordered just the bushing. i had to sand down the outer edge cause it wouldnt fit into the sheave. then i had to sand down the inside diameter to get it to fit over the stationary shaft. pain in the *** if i do say so. just take a chisel and a few taps and the old bushing comes right out like nothing. i didnt get my bushing sanded nice and round so im going to take it back out and put the old one back in. f**k it... im going to use that clutch till it craps out. pretty poor of cat not to sell the bushings. if you want to try... here is the part # for the bushing.
0648-138 Where used BEARING,DRIVEN CLUTCH-3" this bushing is from the old secondary clutches.

You can get just sheaves from BDX web site. I had to order them for my old 07 M8. It just comes with 10.4" sheaves and you use all your old parts helix rollers..... It cost me i believe $195 for the sheaves not sure if this helps you or not??

Thanks. It gives me an option.

My dealer said the same thing, only attributed it to belt dust. I don't see how belt dust could score that, but...

My main concern is that if it continues to get scored, excessive play will develop between the 2 sheaves. That can't be good.

Just went through the same problem on my 06 I had .040 clearance between
stationary shaft and bushing on moveable sheave. AC shop manual says to replace sheave at .020 they no longer sell the bushing. I found one at Brownsleisure world same part # as listed above. Only problem is it is not a direct replacement I took it to a machine shop they removed and installed new bushing machined stationary sheave shaft down just enough to clean up scoring then macnined bushing down to give me a .003 clearance cost me $80
plus $25 for the part.
