07 m1000 turbo?

So I've been doing my homework on turbo M's and have decided to go with a pump gas 1000. My question is since I am on a budget is their a major dfference between a 07 and say a 09 m1000, and will todays new turbo kits work on an 07.

i believe any of the turbos will work , as far as i know the only changes the 1000 got from 07-09, (besides chassie and suspension improvements) were fuel mapping in the ecu, and the control box that comes with the turbo kit will override that anyhow.

the primary clutch was also different in 07, they came with a 4 post and the newer ones have a 3 post, so you maye have to get a different clutch kit

Thats kinda what i thought too, as far as i know the only major differences are supension and electronic reverse, supension I can upgrade as I probably would with a newer machine anyway and reverse well i have never owned a sled with reverse so if it came down to it I would just delete the mechanical reverse if I had trouble with it. I just really want to get into a turbo sled this year but can't justify 14000 for a new sled and then six or seven for a turbo kit, when i can pick up an 07 with low km for 7000. what do you think?

yeah i would probably do the same thing, especially with the m 1000 seing as how it hasnt really lost much weight from 07-09

I think they changed the crank bearings after the 07 model, if I remember right they were having issues with the first M1000's

get an 08, you can pick them up for pretty cheap. They have better suspension, clutch, crank bearing and running boards, then you won't have to upgrade everything, but it will still be cheaper than an 09

Good advice. Don't forget the spindles. My '07 turns about as sharp as a Greyhound bus. I am buying a leftover '08 for over $4000 off retail.

The 07 was a good sled. It had the 4 post primary clutch what works well with a turbo. The major issue was the spider was weak. You can buy a billet spider and cover from STM for a about $300 that solve any problems there. I personally like the running boards on the 07 because you can use the older Fastlane running boards that are by far the best mod I've ever done to my sled. As far as the diamond drives go, the 07 was stronger than the 08, but neither were great. You can either get the BDX drive or buy an 09 case and put the BDX gears in it to accomplish the same thing. The latter is probably cheapest. The rear skid is different in the 07 and 08. You can upgrade the 07 to the 08 for around $500 but honestly I'm not a fan of either skid and the money would be better spent on an aftermarket skid. Last I heard Cat was giving a $2400 rebate on any holdover 07's. MMsports on here has new 08 M1000 in his sig line for about $7500 last time I saw it. I've heard of new 07's as low as $6000 in the midwest.

Thanks for all the info guys, but now I'm even more undecided maybe I should just find an 09 and spend the money :beer;

buy the 07 and turbo it bighoe is correct ,think about this how many used m1000 turbos you see for sale or how many 07 not many theres a reason there fun i bought an 07 and am doing it
