Hey guys - I am still having a similar electrical issue with my '07 M8. Thought I would chime in on this thread since there has been some good information on here.
What I've checked (no experience with electrical wiring) and found is:
Resistances
Ignition coil (primary) - 7.34 @ 20k setting
Ignition coil (secondary) - 11.65 @ 20k setting
Charge coil 1 - couldn't get anything to read / meter wouldn't move from "l"?
Charge coil 2 - same thing as #1
Lighting coil - one setting showed 0.2, the other setting showed a small # and then went to zero
Ignition timing #1 and #2 - 188
Spark plug cap - 20.3 @ 200k setting
Some of my numbers seem way off from the specs above. I may have to go back and try this again.
I don't quite understand this correctly - Looking at the service manual, how does mesauring the resistance from the these connections to the ECU or magneto or engine tell us whether the coils are good or bad?
Any thoughts on this or what I found? Thanks!
