07 D7 idle problem

I have a 07 D7, and it wont idle. It starts then the idle starts to drop. it gets to a point and i lose power to the gauges and EGT gauge. If I bump the throttle the rpms come up fine but i have to keep the throttle cracked a little for it to idle correctly.

I also need a little throttle to start it.

What wrong here guys??? Please help

THanks in advance

Same thing happening to a buddies 07 D7

I rode with an 07 D7 yesterday that is experiencing the EXACT same thing. Runs fine when up in RPM, but won't idle, and when it's slowly dieing, the exhaust valve solenoid clicks on and off rapidly (you can feel and hear it), the display blinks on and off and the headlights flicker. Have to crack the throttle to keep it at idle and to start it. Anybody know?

It's an altitude thing for some reason. Mine does that out west, but idles like a champ here in the Midwest. Just adjust the idle for your altitude and you should be set.

My buddies does the same thing now and it hasn't done it until this year.
The previous 3 seasons have been fine. It has to be something other than
altitude causing this. TPS?

Pull the airbox out and clean the throttle bodies. Belt dust gets caked in there and prevents adequate air flow at idle.

If you're having the dealer do it, have them check the TPS as well.

T.p.s.

Is it easy to check the TPS?

There's a thread here on the IQ section "INCREASING YOUR IQ"

Then there's the video in the POLARIS 900 SECTION

You can't just adjust the idle speed, you have to follow the proper procedure using a voltmeter to set the T.P.S. and that determines idle speed.

On the bold, You CAN NOT do that, that alters the T.P.S. setting.

Idle speed is a function of the voltage on the T.P.S. procedure, once it's set, DO NOT RE-ADJUST the idle speed!!

Well i took mine into the dealer to have them check the TPS and they siad it was fine. so they turned up the idel and now it idles right at 1800. no problems at all.

If the dealer just put the digital wrench on it, it may "check out good" and not be.

The ONLY WAY to check it correctly is to complete the process by FULLY closing the throttle blades, setting it to spec and going from there.

How much do you trust your mechanic/dealer??

Listen to captain Krave he is absolutly correct, cleaning the throttle bodies and setting the tps not using digital wrench will fix it!

I wouldnt trust them with my life lol

But I dont really no much about these so i am kinda stuck between a rock and a hard place.

Is checking and setting the TPS something I can do myself?

yes, you can do it yourself

Check out INCREASING YOUR IQ THREAD AT THE TOP OF THIS SECTION, the info on how to do it is there.

The video is in the 900 section.

1) The basics of it is you have to have the throttle blades FULLY CLOSED!

2) Then set it to spec

3) Then open the throttle blades until the desired voltage is met.

You can build a tester for less than $10.00 with parts from Radio Shack, info is in the thread mentioned above.

Good Luck!

I just read that thread about the TPS. all that wiring went over my head. Does anyone one here make them?
