07 Apex handwarmer question

My wife has been having an issue with her Apex and the hand warmers. They don't seem to be getting as warm as a stock sled. She is running a pump gas MCX Turbo and it doesn't seem to allow the warmers to get hot, just luke warm. I know people are commenting on the RSI and Moose hand warms but I don't think the warmers are the issue, I think there isn't enougth voltage. Anyone else have this problem?

Thanks...:beer;

yea i have noticed it too. on the trail when i am going slow keeping my face warm the hand warmers are not hot. but when i build boost and climb and play around they get so hot i have to turn them down.

Yup me to, above 7 grand they roast you below and cold ??? any fix

I have a 06 Apex and it was upgraded to the 07 bars and they work much better the the originals. Mine stay warmer because my motor doesn't have a turbo and her sled does. On the trail mine turns a Little more rpm cruising. I figure that she'll have to deal with the fact she has cold hands and more power... for now.:face-icon-small-win

I have tried everything...from the RX1, apex and now my nytro. Heres what works

I run a nytro with a MCX turbo kit. I'm using grips off a 2003 RX1 wired in parallell, like cut the plug off one grip and solder it onto the new grip. The only downfall to these grips is you loose the hooks but they flat out work. even in crazy cold temps I'm constantly turning mine down. They get hot and work great.....had them on my apex also....only used to run one or two ticks.....put them on and no more looking back.

Fixed my BD T-Apex

I tried the update and it was crap. I run 06 bars/warmers wired in series and DO not turn them up over half way. They will get hot enough to melt sh!t if you leave them over half. I can ride with mx gloves for most rides and medium dakine's on the coldest days. BTW I prefer the smaller diam. of the 06 bars/warmers over the 07 setup.

my 07 bars were better than my 06 bars for the apex but i noticed it this year that my warmers don't even get warm now.

WHAT? you tellin me my 07 apex has hand warmers! where?? I aint found em yet. found a couple a blue buttons on the beerrrs but I think them are just bling bling.

I just put my update bars on my 06 Apex had them sitting in the garage for couple years now and they got hot just idiling in the garage for couple minutes.

How do you wire the stock warmers like this?? My 08 suck.

Wiring

I will look at it tonight. You must run it so the current goes from one grip to the other in series and not split like the stock setup does. Both wires go to the one grip first and then to the second grip. From there they go back to the harness. I will get the colors and post it for you guys.

Change the wiring on the 06 bars.

I changed the wiring on the 06 bars last year and like has been said, you can't hardly turn them past half way.
Wire them in series instead of parallel to bump up the voltage. It works great.
The warmers have two wires going to each warmer. Disconnect and connect one wire from each warmer to each other and the other end of the warmer back to one set of the wires that were going to each hand warmer. The other set won't be used. It's very simple and works great.

PS, If you have the 07 update it comes with a new harness that does change the wiring to series instead of parallel. If you have it, add the harness and keep your 06 bars. The 07 warmers don't work very good even with the changed wiring.

That would be great to know the colors WesG. Mine is an 08, so will this help at all?
