07 800R innner airbox on 04 800HO any experience

Hello guys I have read a few theads actually on Dootalk.com that talk about puting an 07 airbox on a 04 or the HO engine, what experience does anyone on here have with this mod??

Do you Need to change anything on the outer airbox or can you run the 04 outer airbox with the 07 inner box and if any Jetting is required would it be leaner or richer?? I am also putting on a oval design Dynoport can, what jetting would you think would have to be done with this can along with the 07 box??

If the airbox was not to work or be worth it what jetting would I have to do with just the can??

My engine is supposed to be all stock other than a Wiseco piston top end
about 700 miles ago. and Has the sock filter on the outside of the outer air intake.

stock Jets should be 400 correct??

Any advice or tips would be appreciated.

Thank You, Wildcard

You need to change the inner and outer boxes. I ran 420 jets, but I had a P-tek.

What he said but stock jetting for your sled are 400's and you don't need to go richer for the Dynoport can (but I would go with size 20 pilots). The performance gain is marginal, especially if you don't have porting. But if you have $80 burning a hole in your pocket, go for it.

I did it on an 05. No noticable gain at all. You would need larger carbs or porting to realize any gain

I bought the inner box and paid shipping for it and now since I need the outer box I am getting both with shipping twice for $60 I read on dootalk guys noticed a gain and that this mod was a good one, if it didn`t add airflow you wouldn`t think you would have to jet up, so more air would be why I would have to go to 420 jets?

Why would I have to change pilots?? those are the idle jets right?? would this mostly be for the airboxs or the dynoport can??

Thanks, Wildcard

The Power-tek 800 had 440 stock jetting, but I went down to 420, where as your sled had 400s.
Going to 20.0 pilot jets will give you better throttle response on the low end and eliminate a low rpm stutter.

Well I wouldn't know anything about DooTalk, LOL! I'm speaking from actual experience. BJ told me he jetted down and made some power with the '07 box but my thinking is the gain was more from running leaner versus any airflow differences but he does know his stuff.

The pilot jets on Flatslides add fuel throughout the entire throttle ange. Most cans will make your sled run a tad leaner so you're going to magnify the lean bog off idle/high idle issues that are typical for your sled. Going to 20's (from 17.5's) solves those issues as was pointed out and also can help tame down the lean mids (tho certainly not as noticable as a needle clip change).

Have FUN!
