07 700 Blown... Need Rebuild kit!

Hey guys, last weekend my dad's backup 07 700 RMK siezed solid, its going to need a minimum of cylinders and pistons. Wondering if anyone offers a rebuild kit for them? He doesn't want to spend the extra money to go with a Carl's big bore at this point. Trying to get an idea what it will cost if I were to do the work and just get the parts. I posted up a thread in the Parts swapmeet for an entire motor as well if anyone had one. Any help in steering me in the right direction would be great! Thanks

Ok so tonight I dug into it. Mag side piston is done for. Looks like something went wrong down lower, such as a bearing. There are metal flakes EVERYWHERE, in the cylinder, exhaust valves, Ypipe, crank case. The PTO side actually looks ok, cylinder and piston look brand new, and head was not touched on that side. Piston rings are all intact. Anyone have any input?

Mine did the same thing @ 2100 miles. Stator side piston skirt broke and the crank pulled a piece of the broken piston down into the case blowing a hole in it. One cylinder good, found good used on Ebay, replaced pistons, replaced cases and rebuilt crank shaft. Got the 2-ring piston kit from Polaris. Good luck.

Me too. @ 1600 miles. Skirt broke and took out the cases. Luckily had the 3 year warranty and it was covered. You need to take the whole motor apart so you can inspect the cases. Mine was cracked and I would've never seen it otherwise. If you don't need anything other than a piston, cylinder exchange, and gaskets and you do it yourself you'll do it for around $600. Good luck. Then you need to figure out why it happened.

You need to get the entire motor gone through...

You are looking at about $3000 for a factory short block or about $2700 for an IndySpecialties short block, which IMO will be a better motor in the end as it will be blueprinted from the top to bottom with a REAL warranty on the motor.

A used motor is just that... USED.. you also have no way to be sure what its history is.

Also, there may be other items that caused the motor to have the problem, like fuel injectors, ecu, electrical, fuel filters, oil pump, oil filter, etc...

FIND THE CAUSE of the meltdown.

You dont want to put a new motor in with bad ancillary components.

Send the injectors into witchhunter for clean and flow check, check your fuel rail pressure, replace the fuel filter, check the electrical system, oil pump and all the other items that could have caused your problem.
