07 600 RMK, (Trenching Monster) help!!!!

I got my wife a 07 600 rmk 155 last year, pretty much stock but its piped and canned. This thing trenches like crazy. Any help on tips to have it trench less for her would be great. If it help she only weight about 110.

Interesting that sled is trenching. Is it the stock track? You can try moving your limiter strap. This will create more ski pressure.

No trenching problems with mine. I do weigh 210. I have my limiters all the way out and the shock in the upright position.

Stock track, the only thing that i've done so far is stiffin the rear spring for all the sag it has. I'll try moving the limiters up a notch for next weekend a see if that helps.

I'd make sure there's no binding in the front torque arm (make sure it pivots freely). Where it pivots on the rails, it can get gunked up and/or corroded if it wasn't maintained well, to where the front part of the suspension won't work right. That could cause it to trench instead of climbing up on top of the snow.

Got it in my shop so i'll look at the arms too and move up the limiter. Yes i've have narrowed it down to the sled, out of all the sleds in our group and even when I ride it, it is still the worst one.

Not knowing your current set-up, try one change at a time. If your limiter straps are all the way down, move them to the middle hole and see what that does. Then you might try dropping the front skid shock to the bottom hole(lots of posts on this change). With a 110 lb. rider, that sled should be jumping out of the snow. Us old, fat guys can only dream. Play around with it and let us know how you come out.

If she weighs 110 lbs, that really isn't needed and will help it to trench. Lighten up the spring, suck up your limiter strap.

Stock .359's are junk, period! No matter the weight. Crank up the preload or install .375's, ya ya, not for her weight. Whatever. Too soft of springs will transfer more weight, collapse the rear easier, start dragging the running boards, trenching.

600

That sounds strange, could your skis be dragging, bent or broken wearbars? with someone that light it should float nice.

It is clutched right, before it was not. Now I have the limiters to the middle hole, front track shock in the lower hole, rear spring up to the 3rd setting. Try it out this coming weekend and see how it is.

Set the rear torsion spring preload to the softest position....Make sure there is 5" of sag when she's sitting on it....She might need softer springs for only 110 lbs

Also make sure that teh shock is set up properly. I have found that the screw in the rear shock needs to be 1/2 to 1/4 turn out from all the way in. They come from the factory all the way out. not having that adjusted correctly will make you think the springs are to soft. Moving the frt shock to laydown position will help trenching but should not be need for her weight

My 600 has carbs and I got better throttle response on it by plugging the ex valve vents. This allows them to open sooner and the mid range throttle control is much better. In stock configuration the ex valve is prevented from opening until 7200 or 6800 rpm and by then the engine is pulling hard on the track. Plugging the vent gives a more linier power curve. I think it will help with trenching and I know that it improves rideability.
