07 600 RMK getting hot

My 600 has always ran at 126 degrees in good snow but on my last couple of rides it has gotten up into the 180's. When I'm in the deep snow it stays about 150 now. Could it just be a thermostat stuck open? what else could it be? Heat exchanger is steaming so I know the coolant is getting back there. Thanks

Stuck open thermostat would make it cooler as it would flow in the coolers all the time and not just when hot.

T-stat may be stuck mostly closed..it circulates some coolant but not enough..I would change it....

Coolant heat issue

It is very likely that when the coolant was hot that the spring warped when the stat was open and the pellet is turned somewhat sideways and stuck in that position. Coolant can get past it, but only in very small amounts, causing the engine to overheat. You also might want to suck some coolant out of the recovery jug and look for traces of oil film-sign of bad water pump seal.

i have a 2007 600ho 144 and it gets much hotter then my 2007 d7 155. i figured it was the shorter tunnel (less coolant capacity). could never really figure out why it was. good thing they have temp gauges!

Wife's 08 600 RMK 144 did the same thing. Found the thermostat came apart, causing it to stick closed! Replaced an no problem now!

Bossman is dead on...had that happen on the wifes 600. T-Stat broke wedged sideways...nice trail of green. Had to use creek water, gateraid etc..to get it out to a towable area.
