06 Summit X shuts off going uphill???

OK fellow wingnuts and gearheads.....here's the scoop.
06 Summit X 800. New stock motor, medium compression heads, V force reeds, Crank Shop pipes. Locked up a really nice Trygstad motor last year (couldn't even get the core refund), so I'm running it rich with the needle on the middle clip and 370 mains.
Last weekend, clear day, temps in the 20's at about 9000 feet. When running uphill (or even on the slightest incline) it would shut down. Point it downhill and it goes like a SOB (no popping or pinging). Had to be towed out by a Apex. :face-icon-small-conAlready looked at the fuel line in the tank with my mechanic last night and it was still connected. Reeds look good. New fuel pump (coming on the Fed Ex truck) is the next thing we're looking at. Of all you wise people, one of you must know something else we're not seeing. All advise would be greatly appreciated.
thanks,
the cakes

Jetting?

It sounds to me that you are leaner than fu#@. Stock jetting is 440 on an 06x. I have a performance edition kit from slp and run 440's and the thing runs like a scalded dog! I would think with twin pipes, head, reeds you would want to be around 470's. Is your dpm still hooked up?

No, the DPM is gone, as is the airbox (I'm running pods with slip on filters).
The jetting was rich when the 410's were in it (plugs looked like a burnt bundt cake!!!)
