I have an 06 summit x with electric start. At about 6500 rpms the starter starts to engage and will start grinding on my starter gear. I unhooked the power wire to the starter and the same thing happens. I thinking my starter is probably shot but what has me baffled is why it won't start engaging (or vibrating out) until about 6000 or so rpms. Is there any way the starter is still being energized without the power wire connected? I think of myself as being mechanically inclined since i'm an airplane mechanic, but this has me baffled. Just curious if anybody else has had this problem or if I'm just over thinking the situation. Thanks
