How tight should my chain be on my 06 RT 1000????

Tighten adjustment screw by HAND and then loosen the bolt 1/2 turn. Tighten the lock nut and off you go
RT 1000 Engine Noise..
I had some engine noise that I was hearing for the last 200 miles..
Not too excessive, just a little noise, mostly in the low RPM
Checked my clutch and chain - they were ok
Still heard noise, then it seized..... I had 2150 miles..
Stator Piston hit the plug so hard it closed th GAP,
plug was not lean
Mag side plug looked good
I was in the backcountry, required a long......TOW
You may want to get it checked -
if you have a good dealer, or pull the head dn jugs,
I do not know what caused it or how extensive damage was -
It is at Wellers, they are backed up 4 weeks...

Sounds about the same as my old motor in my 1000. It started getting a bit louder--then it just cut loose---Tried limping it out--hahaha
It put a rod thru the jug--1 month left on warrenty at the time it blew!!
Sweet--Dealer had me up and going in a week and a half---would have been a week down--but UPS lost the new engine coming from BRP--Even showed it in the tracking paperwork--LOL
I was at about 1850 miles. It sounded like something had broke in the clutch--but when it decided to go--it only took about 500' and that was it!!

did it sound like the chain was slapping like it was loose??
i heard the same thing on my 05 the last time that i went out
decided that i had better check the chain and it was fine.
hope this doesnt mean that i am going to lose my motor soon.

Yeap mine did the same thing with the plug I tore into it and the piston skirt was gone,
Are you pullin a good RPM under a deepsnow condition load, or is it knockin like a diesle and smokin likea frieghttrain? If so soon to boom Check it out.
I would start with a compression test.
I'm havin my cylinders Sleeved instead of nickasiled I'll let ya all know how that pans out.

I have had chains go bad, been lucky not to have one snap, But they can break a link and swing out and tap on the case. my .02's worth.
My '05 was making a clacking sound at idle. I mean a loud one, I thought the motor was coming apart. If you gave it a little gas it would go away. Turns out that 3 of the 6 hex head screws that hold the rubber cushion drive to the governor cup on the primary had sheared. Its at the dealer now, all covered by warranty. Those 1000's just make too much power
