06 RMK 700 Problem

Hey guys I was in Cooke City for the last few days and started having issues all of the sudden with the sled. To start with I noticed the idle was low (about 1500 rpm) and when I would switch between low and high beam the gauge pod would go blank. If I reved it up a little it would come back on. So I turned the idle up just a little and everything was good. Then it started to idle low again and noticed the volt meter part on the gauge was really low. If I put the bright light on it would blank the gauge out completely. If I put the low beam on the gauge would also come back on. What do you guys think? Stator, Voltage Regulator or TPS. Thanks in advance.

Were should I start with looking at the wire harness. I had the tank off about a month ago and looked things over when I did the fuel sender update, Ther were 3 or 4 wires pinched between the tank and an aluminum box on the left side, not exactly sure what that is but I took those wires and wrapped some electrical tape around them to keep them from rubbing through the wire coating. Should I pull it again and look there or start looking somewhere else?

start with your capacitor..do you have a service manual..its super easy to test it..but you need the fuel tank off..

if you need a step by step let me know i will get it to you..

if that is good..start from the ECU and work your way to the gauges..

while your back in the ECU area..this is good time to reroute wiring and get it out of the way nicely..

on my wifes 06 700, the voltrage regulator is slightly cocked..so the wiring was smashed up againist the fuel tank..look at that area closely..i removed the bottom bolt for the VR and redrilled it straight up and down and it gained me about 3-4" for the wiring..if you need a pic let me know..

good luck..
