06 REV 144 (to a 159 track)

06 REV 800 144" , thinking about changing it to a 159 track. Would it be better to get factory 159 rails and to a tunnel extension or are the slp rail extensions just as good. If you have done this, let me know what you thought after the mod.

I'm thinking of doing the same thing

Hope someone can contribute on this-I'm considering the same mod. If you did it 15 or 16 pitch and lug size would be big help:clock:

144 to 159

I am considering the track extension because I like the sled that I have. I have read over and over on snowest how the 06 is one of the best sleds that skidoo ever built. My 06 only has about 850 miles so it is still basically new. Based on what I paid for the sled and then doing the 159 track conversion to it, I will be into this sled for thousands of dollars less than going out and buying a 2009 skidoo. The 144 track works really good as long as there is a good base but in the deep power it has its limitations.

I did factory rails and factory tunnel extension when I converted my 144 to a 151. The main reason was I wanted it to look stock. I also wanted hyfax that went the length of the rails. They are expensive if you buy from doo, but I found mine on here used for $200. There is always someone looking to go longer. Another option is to find some aftermarket rails. Ice Age MFG (he is on this forum) makes rails that are reasonably priced (~225 I think).

do it this way

buy a big wheel kit and the brackets that bring the wheels up, pull the skid back 1.5" and away you go

while your doin it change to extroverts if the 06 didnt come with them

Did the exact same swap on my 04

144-159

:beer;Do you already have the 9 tooth drivers? With the 10 you don't have the clearence you need for the 2 1/4" lugs. Also needed to get the desired gearing. Then your gearing in the chaincase would not to be changed, if it already is 19/45 as 144" are typically setup when they have 10 tooth drivers.
I've also got a track & complete skidframe with(Ice Age Manufacturing)billet rails & 8" billet wheels for sale from when I had my 144" switched over to a 159".
