06 900 with 09 front end.... air box solutions?

I know I'm not the only guy to do this mod, but what have people been doing for air boxs as none of the kits made for the 06 will fit it?

please do help with pictures and descriptions.

FYI stock wont work. There is not enough room for the hood to close over it and it doesnt sit down in there all the way.

Fire N Ice works great but u may need to heat up the plastic a little and push it out for clearance between the pipe and airbox.

just to be clear, does the fire and ice one get ordered as though for a 09 800?

The air manifold coming off of my reeds was hacked up to fit the old SLP air box that the previous owner had on it... does this replace that as well?

A factory boost box will need to be replaced to run the fire n ice IF it has been hacked up already for a SLP airbox

just phoned timbersled, their intake will not work with this setup, especially if you don't have the stock pipe.

problem is twofold:

(1) the 2007+ throttle bodies are on the back side of the engine and the 2006 rmk is on the front and travels through the front cross member.

(2) the 2005 and 2006 airbox won't fit a slp pipe.

I think I might have to build a new one as this plan isn't working out so well and I can't find a place to buy the fire and ice airbox much less see what it looks like.

doesn't think it will fit around the 09 front bumper members.

u mite be asking the wrong questions. almost everyone on this 900 forum with the 09+ plastic has the slp pipe with either a timbersled intake or a fire n ice intake, myself included. Order a fire n ice intake for the 900 and i promise it will fit with the 09 plastic and slp pipe setup.

You will need the stock boost box like this. See i have the slp pipe and the fire n ice airbox fits right over it. I did have to warm up the 09 plastic to make room for it to fit properly but once in there it works great.

boy oh boy...

you must be asking the wrong info or not getting across what you want..

you CAN run the timbersled intake on the 900 with 09-up front end, but its $250 for basically a filter and bracket and maybe belt cover, not worth it....

you CAN run the FNI (fire n ice) intake with the 09-up front end, comes with bracket to hang from steering hoop and removable belt cover...

you WILL have to get a new boost box (intake section that connects the intake to the throttle bodies) they are $$ from polaris, so i would watch ebay...a few on there now i think...

these are the best pics i have on hand for you..all 3 of my sled (05 900, 06 900, 06 700) have 09 front ends and FNI intakes and NO issues...
