06 900 vs 09 d8 both stock

But, honestly, if I was buying anything Polaris has built in the last 5 years, it'd be a 2008+ 700 RMK and it'd get a BD turbo on it .... Doesn't seem to be any issues with the 700 motors and they are awsome under boost.

that is tempting....

I can't say those words though may be a curse.....

that is absolutely correct...

the Dragon 700s are IMO...the best factory sled polaris has out. and it would be a blast on boost...(also a 600 turbo would be FUN!!)

and hate to say it, but the ONLY other STOCK 800 i would buy would be an M8..

Well if you are gonna go that route, I would definitely do a T-Nytro

We had this battle when I snowcheck my 08 D8, A friend has the 06 900 with the SLP kit, and I had the SLP kit put on mine upon arrival, Pipe, Big air kit, Clutching. As did he on his 900 plus taking out the front cooler. The out come was what I had expected, the D8 ran circles around the 900 in the deep and I mean deep 3 plus feet, snow in the trees pulling shorter hills. The snow was slightly heavy, but not burn belt heavy. We even traded and OH boy what a mistake that was,, he was ready to sell the brick, right then and there. The weight diffrence seamed to be and big issue. As far as the power not a big diffrence, not as snappy on the bottom but you would expect that from the diffrent stroke in the motors. We never got to a big long pull with a long run out, so I could not say what would happen there. If you could get that pig up to speed, it might take the D8 on a long hill. But in the trees Boondocking hands down the D8 will win everytime, IMO. The out come was the same with my 09 D8 as well, in the trees. As for the long pull still don't know, the only thing I can say there is my 09 will out climb cat with the 1000 (stock), and mine haveing the SLP kit in it. But there we are not really apples to apples anymore.

Just my two penny's

I've ridden one of those (for about 5 mins (2 short pulls up a hill)) and boy was that thing heavy... I'm sure it was just that I was not use to it and didnt want to wreck a $30,000 sled, but I couldn't get a ski off the ground to save my life... I got back on my 900 right after that and dang near dumped it over it was so much lighter, lol....

The power at even 10 PSI was impressive tho... :D Given some time to learn it might be a different story.

I've ridden the full SLP kit in all conditions on a 2006 159 snow check AND a 2009 800 with a stage 3 SLP kit... The power of the 900 was much more impressive than the 800...

But the nimbleness was the big diff for me.

Have a look at this write up from last season. CLICK HERE

Stock for stock...IMO the 800.

06 RMK 900: TRACTORS RULE!!!!!!!!

Yes they DO!!

Had to toss up a porsche up of all tractors? That thing prolly worth more than a few of our sleds together!

I love my tractor but coming from a circut track racebike background where flickability is key, some days I crave more nimbleness over the raw power. Love my tractor to tears but some days it just a heavy pig!

I've ridden both - 06 700 & 09 D8
I'll take my 06 700 any day......a little lighter than the 900, tractor style power and very flickable. IMO, more power than the D8, hands down
After all....not much difference between 755 and 800. :D

I've been pretty happy with my M8 overall. I rode the piss out of it last winter too. It's about as rock solid reliable of a sled as they make IMO.

With that said however, I still say the IQ/RAW chassis is overall a better handeling chassis. There probably isn't a hill of beans difference in power between the 07-09 M8's and the 07+ 700 RMK's ... 2010/11+ M8's, well, that's a different story..... I just really had a bad taste in my mouth from Polaris this year :p

I'm still contemplating the notion of an 08 or 09 700 RMK as my "new" sled (at least if I can unload this 900) then maybe throw the BD kit on it. I'm still partial to that chassis.

ditto..lol..

they do manage to cover it up...but i have personally never rode a new 800because im scared, and andrew wont let me wreck it.. so the last 800 i rode was an 04 EDGE, lol..

i know a few guys with new dragons, 1 has had nothing but engine problems, and the other has been great...weird..sounds like the 900 debockle all over again..

but since i ride with the chitty 05 900, i might as well stick the 975BB on it...you know...cause its such a piece..

and then i got stuck with an 06 900, so i might as well slap all the goodies on it and turbo that piece of junk too

and i would challenge any stock 07-up dragon 700 to my wifes 06 700 (755)..im just saying ;)

well?

MH is that a 2007 900 you have a pic of? Sure is nice and a diesel to boot!
2009 700 rmk is a great sled and have ridden a couple one modded one not so much and yeah the weight is noticable!!! But 800 rmk is not a rocket stock and 700 is comparable except in $$$.
And stock to stock 05 0r 06 800 to 900 ..900 wins!
