i have and 06 900 switchback. i have the slp torque arm and pusharm, slp intake, slp y-pipe, pipe and can, slp reflash, slp clutch kit 74 gram weights with 1-2 gram rivet in the middle of each with the polaris almond spring. i run the 1115 belt. i did take a tooth from the bottom gear in chaincase "nothing but problems and going to fix before ridden again". the secondary is all stock. i need help! all i do is blow belts. i ride in wisconsin and some of northern michigan so its mostly trail and a little off trail riding. what setup have people tried that is working well for them? weights, gears, springs, helixes?
thanks
jason

how bout the sliding secondary? or whatever its called. mine was nothing but problems until i used washers to make it stationary. someone that still owns this sled could prob chime in better but this was a huge issue on mine.

yes you want about 1/4 inch of float on the secondary you may also want to try the 66/42 .46 / 66/44 .46 helix with the red black spring in the secondary.

yes check your motor mounts and check primary for the correct belt to sheave clearance with a new belt.

thanks guys. in the past my mounts were giving me trouble. i could check them again but they were fine the last time i saw. im going to be installing the 09 body kit so i will definitely check them then. my secondary is shimmed to float about 1/4 in. i will be buying the 66-42.46 helix and changing springs. ive seen that maybe 19-42 gearing is what is mostly ran. would it be beneficial to install some cold air vents for the clutch side considering how hot they get? what weights do u think should be run in the primary? ive just about had it with the slp mtx weights? just having lots of trouble and im tired of trying to tackle it all by myself. i appreciate all the help i can get.

i have been running the polaris 11 series weights. they seem to work great. you just have to make sure your primary is shimmed properly for the 11 series weights they have a thicker heel so it will tighten up the cearances i the primary.

yes gearing down will help if not running in the mountains i would stay around the 2-1 ratio like 20/40,19/39.

yes i would add side panel vents to both clutch and exhaust sides. i have the mountain fit ones and they are great.

mounts!

VENT EVERYTHING..

also on your front motor mounts, you CANNOT tell if they are bad unless you pull the motor, pull the mounts OUT and stick them in a vise and pull on them..they will look like this 90% of the time..(replace them with compfusion motor mounts if you have the money ~$280

i did have to tilt the engine out once and i checked them then but i never knew you had to pull on them. thanks for the advice. i cant wait to be able to try all this out and see what works. these 900s have a lot of power but it just doesnt seem like im using it all. thanks a lot for all the help guys:D!

I have my motor out right now and just pulled the front mounts off tonight and did the vice trick....the pto side front has a big "rip" in the front of it...FYI I had no idea until now

Lol!! Yes, the writing is on the wall with these machines. I pulled my motor and all of my mounts were shot, as well as torque stops, and torque arm!!! I haven't blown any belts mind you, but as soon as one mount goes, it's only an amount of time, that the rest will go. Make sure you check your rear ones too!! Good luck my friend, be prepared to spend 500 bucks before you tear into it. Replace all mount bolts to your engine with grade eight bolts too!! There has been lots of recent discussion on this one.

Yep got all new 06 mounts on the way...new intake boots, fuel filter, VES stuff, bolts etc..

160 for new mounts
110 for new boots
10 for ves stuff...
guessing like 20-30 for all grade 8 hardware
26 for fuel filter
52 machine shop bolt removal..

So im at 362 right now....And I will take a guess that I will easily spend the 138 more to get everything back together...oh well I always say...I could be addicted to crack...

It certainly all adds up. Before you know it, your replacing stuff "while your in there", that you had no intention on doing so. But because it's worn or broke, you have too!! Bolts, pull rope, oiler cable, mounts upon mounts, throttle body boots, fuel filter.....oh, and don't forget to check your tps while your in there! But at the very least, you gain experience on your machine. It's better than watching t.v!! I've got friends that are upgrading to newer machines, and they need to spend 9g's plus to buy a sled that is totally stock. I've got about that much into my 900, but at least I know what has been replaced and I have piece of mind to what's been done to her. And as everyone knows, once you have your machine dialed in, it's a monster!!

with so much to do and how expensive things are with so little money to spend its hard to decide what to do first. i cant wait to get all this stuff done and see what this thing can really do! haha!:D its a long way to winter for me in southern wi tho.
