06 800 lean or not

Just put some miles on the new motor. It has a wierd idle. After you get off the gas at a stop the motor still is at around 4,000rpm up and down not smoth. More of a ding....ding.ding......ding.dd.d.ding.. The mag side plug looks good, light brown to dark gray. The pto side is light,light gray to off white.

I took the intake boot and reeds off the pto side and all looks good. I'm running around 130-155 deg. water temp and no hard pulls yet. Both mains are 440's. Stock pilots. Stock needle.

Any ideas. I would love to get this fixed today so i can get the wife out on her sled. She has not ridin for 3 years

I would first check your boots for small cracks look really good, If boots are good turn your air/fuel screws out half a turn. I had this same issue, Your idle should be around 1500 and air/fuel screws stock should be about 1.5 turns out. they are kind of a pain to get at but turn them all the way in and count the number of turns carefully and then turn them out a half turn more if it is more than 2.5 turns out you might need different pilot jets.

Well i'm going to pull the carbs and put a set of #20 pilots in. Shim .020.

Than start doing plug checks from 4,000 to 7,000 rpm at 500 rpm intervails(sp).

Will post back with the findings.

We'll This thing is a new machine. Plugs look good. Idile is normal. I may still turn out the screws 1/2 turn just to be safe.
