06 700 rmk, newbie

Just bought 06 700 rmk, 350 miles owner said he put a 10' front suspension on it, it was damaged and be claimed this gave it better geometry? Now i have rode some sleds but never owned or educated myself much on sleds. The motor is all stock, no pipe can etc. this will be my wifes sled, what are necessary things to do and when does that become tweaking that is more for a experienced rider. Should ws just ride it and adapt from there, or are things that are must haves, what does all upgrades done mean and does that apply to this sled. Oh its a 151 and I paid 4000.00 any thoughts or help will be appreciated. Erik

Welcome to the forum.

I don't know what a 10' front suspension is on the front.

Do regular maintenance, check hyfax, maybe get the clutch balanced or at least check to see alignment.

Check shocks are okay. Track adjustment correct.

Sorry, he said he replaced the original front suspension with suspension from a 2010 model, which he claimed helped with the geometry. just curious if he is B.S.ing me or if that is even possible do they match up, and would it actually make a difference. Thanks for the welcome and tips, Erik

06 rmk 700

I owned the same sled but a 144". The 06' were known to have some vibration issues similiar to the 900's, mine was not bad. The 900's were terrible and really drug Polaris down hill for a while. I would suggest some ice scratchers, the sled does not quite cool as well as others. Overall I think you have a good sled and got a good buy/ fair buy. The sled has a lot of power so I hope your wife can handle it. I put a left throttle (gold finger) on and put a skid plate and that was it. I would not put a can on it as it has plenty of power for almost any woman. Plus a different can makes it much louder. Good luck and have fun!:face-icon-small-ton

This is correct no BS

Congrats! Take a look in the 900 forum, the 06 700 is the exact same sled as an 06 900 except for having a smaller top end and the ECU programming. The 700s were generally considered more reliable so you probably don't need to do much to it. I would suggest some research in the 900 forum, look through the stickies and they will help you familiarize you with the most common stuff you should look for.

2010 spindles are a HUGE improvement over stock, makes the sled much easier to steer.

Good luck.
